Nikitas, the owner of Villa Ostria is extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very well maintained and although 'self catering' contained a selection of tea/coffee/milk and sweets and biscuits were also waiting for us on arrival. Good size balcony also. The only down side was the lack of air con, which in high summer the ceiling fan was not totally adequate, however any other time and this would not be a problem as the rooms are quite airy. Villa Ostria is in a great location, overlooking the village and town beach, which does of course mean an uphill(not too steep) walk back and on the right side of town to the fantastic island beaches of Koufonissi.
Nikitas also has a restaurant in town, with a menu more varied than normal taverna food and the service and quality here is excellent.
Koufonissi is a great little, chillout island with stunning beaches as good as anywhere in the Aegean and Villa Ostria would be a great place to stay.

We stayed at Villa Ostria in June 2009 for 3 nights. The owner, Mr Nikita Simos was most gracious, kind, attentive and gave us all the information about the local places. The villa was clean, comfortable and he made us most welcome and sent us some cookies too.
It is not possible that the host treated other travellers differently.

Any chance the traveller who wasn't happy with the service has got confused with another hotel. C'mon, tourism is their mainstay on the island, they wouldn't be rude and inattentive. Difficult to believe the negative comments.
Keep it up Mr Simos. Thk u for a wonderful time at your place and at your restaurant too.

We arrived into Chora, Kounfonissi, very early on 27 May, when all that was up were two dogs and the man that caught the ship's line! After a short recce (it is a small place!), while looking for another hotel (which wasn't opened - still very early in the season), I stumbled across Villa Ostria, which someone had mentioned in passing during our stay on Amorgos. Despite the oddity of the hour, we were warmly welcomed by Nikitas who showed us around. Having selected a room, which was very comfortable, uniquely decorated with a great big ceiling fan and had a great view across the village and beyond to the harbour bay, he told us all about the island - where to go, what to do and generally got us well settled. Later in our stay (four nights) we enjoyed his hospitality at his fine restaurant on the other side of the village. I'd recommend Villa Osteria and Koufonissi to anyone looking for a quiet break in a most welcoming place - Nikitas was fantastic!

We are currently staying at Koufonissia, at Villa Ostria and we really don't want to leave this place. The island is beautiful and this hotel is a perfect place to stay and enjoy the moments you are back in the hotel. The room is decorated in a very sophisticated way. The bathroom is convenient and clean, with a window. There is a small kitchenette with everything you need to prepare your breakfast. If you are in town don't miss the restaurant "ATAIRIASTOI" owned by Nikitas. Hotel and restaurant are highly recommended.

Villa Ostria apartments are quiet, comfortable and ideally located. We stayed in a nicely decorated studio that had a separate kitchen with dining area and 2 balconies with a nice view all for a very reasonable price. Nikitas (the owner) is very friendly, helpful and speaks good english. He gave us excellent suggestions on where to rent a bike, which beaches to go to and where to eat (He owns the restaurant the 'Incompatibles" which is a must for dinner with terrace and authentic yet refined greek cuisine) . He also picks you up and drives you to the port (included in the price). He tells you his schedule in case you need anything.

Komitis, Owner at Villa Ostria, responded to this reviewResponded September 19, 2008

My name is Nikitas Simos and I am the owner of VILLA Ostria on Koufonissi. I want to answer to Mr Nicholas Houston and I want to tell him that never I had reservation for this name. Please if you want send me the name of reservation, what seazon did you came on Koufonissia and which was the number of your room? It is impossible to stay on VILLA Ostria and you say that "it is very uncomfortable respect the beaches and the town shop", because the VILLA Ostria is in the village (town), only 80m from the mainly beach and very closed from the shops (from 80m - 150m).
Also there is cleaning lady and she cleans all the rooms every day from 07:30 to 15:00 and she change the sheets and the towels every 2 days.
I don't remember for the money (30 euros),
but why don't you remind of to me?
I have the VILLA Ostria 14 years, I spend for this thousand euros every year for change decoration and every year I return many deposits back to the clients, because they don't try to come on Koufonissia and you say that I am "poor man" because I " take " you 30 euros. I believe that you never stayed at VILLA Ostria and of course you don't know me.

We have been in Villa Ostria last summer and found it very nice and cosy. It is located in front of the main village on a little hill. There is a small garden where breakfast is served and where it is possible to have a drink in the evening or coming back from the beach. The owner Nikitas is always at your disposal and speaks english fluently. He picked us directly from the port and took us there at the end of our holiday. The rooms are suitable for couples more than for families, but he informed us about enlargement and renewing works in the rooms that he wanted to perform during last winter. We absolutely recommend you this hotel, since for us it was a
very good experience!!!
