Located in a small, quiet town, this hotel provides good access to most sites in the Black Forest. It is not reasonably accessible by train. However, I would not recommend using the train to visit the Black Forest anyway, because the highways that connect the towns are incredibly scenic and have countless opportunities for photographs.
As for the hotel, the rooms are very well done and spotlessly clean. They are spacious by European standards and have a very nice balcony with chairs from which one can relax and enjoy the views. The furnishings are basic and a little dated but good quality and well-maintained, and the rooms are equipped with a small refrigerator, which makes it easy to store drinks and snacks. We slept well on the comfortable beds. The bathroom was average-sized but very functional.
The hotel's service was very good, especially for the price. Parking was free and easy. The hotel also provided free WiFi, which was reliable and fast for hotel wifi. The free breakfast was typical of what one finds in European B&Bs - fresh breads, cheeses, sliced meats, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and hearty cereals. In other words, it's very good.
The restaurant is a little understaffed. However, it has very good food and is clearly a popular place for locals. We went in on two nights (a Saturday and a Sunday), and it was packed both nights.
Overall, this is a very good place to stay, especially for the reasonable rates.
