Absolutely stunning! The area for parking is extensive. Once you turn in to the freedom camping area and see a toilet facility, do not be fooled to think that that is all the available parking spaces. Keep on driving in and you will find this beautiful picturesque spot. You can drive up further to higher grounds too. As it is a requirement to be fully self contained when doing freedom camping, do not bother yourself with the small toilet facility at the entrance area. However, do ensure you are fully loaded and waste tank emptied for the night, otherwise the nearest town area for water refilling and dump point is a mere 10 min drive away in Twizel. Perfect place to freedom camp. Loved it.

It was surreal and makes us stop at Peter's lookout for like maybe half an hour because we were flabbergasted by the beautiful scenery

On our way to Aoraki Mount Cook we saw this location and had to stop. Only later as we carried on did we realise we would be taking more photos on the way of this outstanding lake, with the mountains in the background.

We were en route to the Hermitage at Mt Cook National Park. Lake Pukaki provides an amazing view of Mt Cook in the distance. You will be mesmerized by the colour of the water. Simply stunning! Not to be missed if you are in the area.
