Check in at the RDC was quick but the front desk staff couldn't speak English very well and made it difficult to communicate any concerns.
The grounds were kept very well, the pools were clean, the beach was always tidy and beautiful, lots of lounge chairs, and the servers were always so helpful.
The beach was where we spent most of our time. Lots to do. Boogie boarding, catamaran, kayaks, and great swimming. I loved just lounging under the huts and basking in the sun.
I would recommend building 1...it is right on the water and close to everything...ask for this if you can, floors 2 or 3 are the best for views.
Watch out for the vendors at the flea market in Bucerias, they were very aggressive. The little shop just outside the main entrance to RDC, it's a house with a chain link fence, has the best prices and NO pressure. It's run by a super nice couple with a baby and they are way cheaper than any vendor we came across! I would have done all my shopping there if I had known about them sooner!
We booked a bus tour from the hotel going into PV. Walked the Malacon, saw the church, did a bit of shopping. Then they took us to a remote town in the hills for lunch at a "middle of nowhere" restaurant. It was delicious and finally, we got REAL guacamole! After lunch, they took us to a tequilla distillery for a tour and then back to RDC. It was nice to see other parts of the area, we're glad we did it.
RDC food...ended up sticking to fresh fruit towards the end. Did 3 of the 5 restaurants and to be honest, I would just stick with the buffets or go in to Bucerias to eat.
We were told to take US dollars down with us but don't. The government does not want US money and it has become quite a process to convert from US to Pesos. We converted our US $ at the hotel and they had to photocopy our passports, fill out forms, and record each bill's serial #! Take either Canadian or Pesos.
We were please with our overall stay, learned a lot, and will return!

Stayed at Royal Decameron in Bucerias September 25th for one week on an all-inclusive package. We stayed in room 4316, only a few flight of stairs but with the heat and up and down a few times of day, we found it a bit tiring. A little disappointed that the rooms were a little worn down and very basic. The only amenities supplied was soap, towels and hairdryer. In room safe needed a key and there was a small fee for using it. However, everything worked and can't complain about anything else. Housekeepers did a great job. TV enough english channels with shows we liked to watch like Grey's Anatomy and Two and Half Men, movie channels. There was a rain storm one night and the balcony flooded into the room because the balcony could not drain the rainwater fast enough. Housekeepers were quick to provide us towels and mop up water while we went to see the night show. There is a rack on each balcony provided for you to hang up wet clothes and towels.

Entertainment was great...they animacion team works super hard, literally all day and then perform at shows at night. Shows were excellent. The usual all-inclusive activities like volleyball, water aerobics, dance lessons, bingo, etc. Disco was busy until late. Do as much or as little as you like.

September weather is still crazy hot...some days we reached 45 degrees. So it was a bit uncomfortable to be dining in open air restaurants. Only the Italian a la carte was inside an enclosed restaurant and even still the air conditioning wasn't that strong. Italian restaurant is a MUST. The food (we had the lamb chops and pizza) was amazing and dessert (tiramisu and chocolate mousse) really good. I'd skip the Brazilian a la carte...it's not a true rodizio experience. They overcooked all of the meats and undercooked some of the pork and chicken. Not safe! Been to some amazing churrascaria restaurants in Chicago and this was horrible. The asian ala carte was not good either. Being asian and from a city that serves some of the best asian cuisine I did not expect too much. Let's just say it's not truly asian but it was edible. I'd skip it next time.

Breakfast buffet was the best...lot of selection. Toast, delicious pastries, waffles, pancakes, omelette station, fresh papaya and guava juice....YUM. Lunch buffet was okay....still lots of selection to choose from, however, most days seem to be much of the same thing. There was always fish, chicken and some kind of meat.

Servers are excellent everywhere. Tips are greatly appreciated. These people work so hard for so little, they really deserve it.

One evening we were heading to have the dinner buffet when a drunk mexican man grabbed us and wouldn't let go. Security was there immediately and escorted him away. Apparently there was a huge singles group staying and drinking heavily on the resort. The resort seems to only have Canadians and Mexicans at the time that we stayed.

Plenty of pools and of course the beach is right there. We used all the pools but preferred to be at the main pool near the activities. Lots of vendors on the beach (official vendors wear a specific tshirt and vendor badge) selling tshirts, dresses, jewelry, snacks, etc. Short walk to Bucerias market...same kind of stuff. Took the bus to Puerto Vallarta, Malecon area and Walmart to buy our Mexican treats.

Never got a chance to use the spa although we had wanted to. We changed Canadian money for pesos at the resort with no problem. Don't use the computers in the lobby, not private and always people standing behind you waiting. Just walk out the main entrance and down the street a few steps to the corner. There's a store that sells mexican gifts and sundries and they have an internet cafe that has 3 or 4 computers that you can use for a very small fee.

Would I stay again? Yes...if the price was right. :)

Thanks to all the great tips from Trip Advisor members, this past week was totally lived up to our expectations. We stayed in building 1 ocean front. After reading concerns about night time noise in that part of the resort I emailed a request for the south end of the building, second floor and that is exactly what we got! Fell asleep every night to the wonderful sound of the crashing waves, and other than beach party night, never heard a thing! The room was nicer than I expected (and we have been to some pretty nice 5* resorts with beautiful rooms) We found the bed very comfy, lots of hot water with great pressure, room to store everything and a nice balcony for morning coffee. I took a coffee maker with me so we could have coffee first thing (like it strong)
Breakfast was wonderful, lunch of mounds of super-ripe tomatoes, feta cheese with rosemary olive oil and balsamic was to die for (won't see those up here for at least 9 more months!) Dinners were so-so so we walked into Bucerias several nights... this was our plan going in anyway and the very reasonable price for our stay at RDC allowed us to do this.
Grounds were beautiful, pools very nice, great beach were you can walk forever. Not as many beach vendors as I expected... there are many more in Puerto Vallarta.
We would definately go back anytime there is a deal that allows us to eat dinners out. Not that the dinners were that bad, but we just really like to get off the resort and explore.
Do your homework, and go with reasonable expectations and you will have a great time!

We stayed at the RDC Oct 21-28th and really enjoyed it. We decided to come here as our travel agent reccomended it & the price was good. The bell boys were quick and very friendly, all the security staff was great, spoke great english, and our room was great. The room itself (single King) was in Block 5 which was perfect as we were travelling without our children so we were by the Adult pools. The room its self was simple, nothing fancy however who goes to an All inclusive resort to stay in there rooms all day?
The food was great, our Fav was the Mexican La Carte. The buffets were different every day and quite enjoyable. We met so many wonderful people while relaxing in the pool and shared some of our vacation with them! Also the Town Bucerias was great, the market there had some of the best deals (providing you know how to talk them down) and had some beautiful dresses and Men's shirts. We also spent quite a bit of time at the Bar across the street (below the tattoo studio) and the staff there were wonderful, even got to have a beer with some of the RDC staff!
Our trip was fantastic, and i would tell anyone to go and enjoy your time! We cant wait to go back

Will be returning to RDC Nov 6, with a group of ten family, all ages. The previous trips have been wonderful. This is a 4 star hotel, but the service from all staff makes it feel like a 5 star. Have always found the food to be very good in the buffets or Ala Cartes.
Rodizio's, Italian and Thai have been our favorites. Just gotta bone up on our Spanish
again and enjoy the feel of a different country and culture.
