My daughter and I returned our second time for the week of Oct 19 - Oct 26th. Our vacation was fabulous again. The number of staff members making comments to us welcoming us back was touching and sincere. We were lucky to have escaped the nearby hurricane Raymond affecting southern Puerto Vallarta & Ixtapa region, however, humidity was high.
The bright colored buildings add to the charm of this hacienda style complex. As this is my 4th time vacationing here everything was as expected and this is half the charm.
We booked in Bloc 6 , as the rooms are larger and newer than all the rest and is quite and lush with palm trees. With the shape of the pools and greenbelt attached it's similar to Hawaiin landscape. Attached is its own bar , not swim up La Diligencia , and towel exchange ,so handy enough.
Block 5 is steps away by a corridor and there we meet our friends to swim as its adult only there, and enforced. You could have breakfast and lunch at the buffets in Bloc 5 and a couple great bartenders at Keiko bar.Behind building 5 is grass, banyon trees and a tennis court.
Also a large group of Iguanas live here. Daily at 12:30 they are fed lunch by hand. Its interesting and a great photo opp to witness them descending from the trees to munch lettuce and watermelon, papaya left overs.
There are so many different places to mingle, lounge or party at this resort. The Beach is long going either direction and a walk back from Bucerias is a must do!
Take advantage of the complimentary boogie boards and the catameran trips and you will sail along the beachfront to close to Bucerias and a different perspective.
Several daily activities to partake in are at the front of the resort looking at the beach and Playa Fiesta bar that serves till 1am nightly. Good vantage point for the sunsets here too.
The Las Tortugas Tropical Restaurant has a pizza oven but they make quiznos style subs your way. Then an ice cream trolley with toppings of your choice.
The seaside views at Flamingos Restaurant buffet is nice. The selections are more authentic Mexican and feature different regions daily. Vera Cruz fish really great.
The Lounge Bar has great wifi connections and its free along side a beverage in a glass, nice !
There are alot of comments I have read that others have found making the ala carte dinner reservations a tedious thing, nothing worse than setting an alarm for it. lol.
Here is my tip , Not only at 8am do they take reservations but at 12:30 as well for the same evening. They reserve half the tables at each of the restaurants , then the second half of the tables in the same afternoon. You can also book for the following day your choice. Every night we ate at an ala carte and tried them all...Japanese, Thai, Brazilian BBQ and Italian " Piccolo " our favorite. Often we would make it for 4 persons and add new friends with us and that was nice.
The Mexican fiesta night, Thursday, was great with imported Mariachi bands and activities for families at the waterfront areas.
The Ampatheatre is where the evening entertainment begins. Each show is varied in theme and hosts 12 of their key dancers who are clearly talented and ambitious. The costumes are elaborate and runs until 11pm. Royal Decameron chain includes Cuba, Columbia, Ecuador, Cartagena, Guayabitos, Peru, Panama, Puerto Rico and as the dancers are introduced by name at the finale of the shows its clear that their talents are collectively assembled.
The humor is throughout the performances . It's infectious...the humor.
This resort has something that makes you want to return...give it a try.

We booked here for 5 nights as friends were staying here as it is close to the great town of bucarius..and fat boys beach restaraunt(excellent). I didnt expect 4-5 star service or quality ..But I did expect friendly check-in service and acknowledgement of mobility issues.Well checkin was a nightmare the lady didnt even answer me when I informed her I had emailed ahead. We explained that one of us couldnt do stairs not because we were lazy but we cant..where did she put us in block 5 (adult block) thats fine but on the 3rd floor..HUH..my travelling companion went back to the desk asked for a different room was given one up 8 stairs (fine) we open door and it hasnt been cleaned yet. Once cleaned and settled into the room it was old and out dated 2 dbl beds not a king we went to meet our friends at the pool.(no pool waiter service here). The pool was dirty. So off to the beach we go..Nice beach!!! Service at bar by beach bldg 3 had one person for 30 people..not servers fault ..everywhere we went the staff was minimal. We went into vallarta to Barracudas for dinner came back light in room didnt work..finally as were falling asleep someone tried to get into our room and not with a key..That was it we were out of there. In the morning we went to check out and the pleasant lady at the lobby(mini lobby)not the main lobby- seemed to actually care we were leaving early we had to fill out 2 forms on why we were leaving early..maybe if someone had cared enought to begin with we would of stayed I was there to see if the hotel would be a good place to have a group of 34 people in feb NOT..Our friends stayed they ate at the resort and said it was just ok(these people are not picky at all). Enjoyed my stay at the Buenaventura instead..

We were going to stay right in p.v, but this was a great compromise. close enough to puerta Vallarta for a 30 min bus ride, and also close to the town of bucerius where a 20 min walk will get you to a market and resaurants. We took turns walking along the beach and then through town. the resort has lots of choices to eat. Very friendly workers. \not very intimate because of the size of the resort. Good choice overall.

It's been a month since we were here for a week. We went here on a last minute trip and got an amazing deal - we constantly felt like we were getting away with highway robbery! In a nutshell the resort was better than we expected or hoped, even after reading a lot of positive reviews. We have two small boys who loved it also. Food was excellent, service was excellent, the rooms were fine and we enjoyed the whole resort. The evening shows were also wonderful, although often too late for our youngest.

We've been to mexico a few times and have only stayed in a resort twice - we tend to escape the tourist zones and stay in smaller towns with wonderful beaches. This resort was perfect for us because it feels like "real" mexico, and not an attempt to create an american experience in mexico. We talked to some of the staff there and they are quite well treated, and the resort provides a lot of employment for people in Bucerias. The food at the buffets always has some good mexican food as well as cuisine from other countries. We never did a la carte, as we were always more than happy with the instant gratification of the buffets.

The resort seemed very clean and very, very well serviced and maintained. There seemed to be staff everywhere at all times working hard to keep places clean and safe. The pools close early but the staff clean them every evening. The pools seemed to be in very good condition and we spent a lot of time in them with our boys.

Do your best to speak spanish, tip helpful staff generously (minimum wage in mexico is $4 a DAY), smile, relax, and you'll have a good time. We frequently visited the cashier to make change and always walked around with pockets full of 10 peso coins and 20 peso bills ($.70 and $1.40 respectively) for tips. Always be friendly and respectful and enjoy the experience!!

All in all we had our best resort experience so far here and we'd happily return. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: If you have kids a room near the kids pool is best. If they know you are coming with kids they'l...

We have stayed at this resort twice over the last several years. The price was very reasonable compared to other resorts close by. Rooms were clean and comfortable with very good showers and effective if a little noisy A/C. You need to bring your own shampoo, conditioner and bedside clock. Bar soap was supplied. Bottled drinking water provided daily in your room. No in room fridges. Hairdryer was provided. Use of inroom safe cost an extra 50 peso per day. Small tv with a bunch of channels and 3 or 4 in english. Lots of hangers in closet. Our King bed was comfotable, also had 4 pillows.
We found the food to be very good at the buffets. All meals were equally good with something for everyone. The Mexican options provided at all meals we found to be excellant. Outstanding Rottiserie chicken at the one buffet. Good salad bar. Good fresh omlets at breckfast. Very average pasta (over, over cooked). We tried only one ala carte, the italian and found it average, not worth getting up at 7am to reserve.
We found the drinks overall to be average. Some blender drinks were very good. Draught beer was good ( Dos Equis ). Red wine, ok, white wine, less so.
Overall service at the resort was very good. Staff were all very friendly and helpful without exception. We found the sevice a little better at the tropical buffet compared to others.
Wifi was decent in the lobbys.
We found the resort over all in good shape and well maintained, lawns, gardens, pools, beach etc. As others have noted, the beach loungers were very uncomfortable. We took the pillows from the chairs in our rooms and placed them under the towels and this helped. Several people
got stung by jellyfish during the week. I went in daily and had no problem. Vendors at the beach got a little much at times but they were always polite (they work for Decameron).
The adults only pool was a nice touch. The week we were there, there were many local and visiting families that used the two beachfront pools as well as the beach. Noisy, but all seemed to be having a great time. We were at the beach daily.
The beach was very nice and we were able to walk long distances both ways.
The resort is a 10/15 min walk into Bucerias. It was fun to do. Vendors are very assertive there, but polite. We also rode bikes into town that the resort will provide no charge. Boogie boards also supplied no charge. 90 peso taxi into a wal mart. 250 peso into Puerto Vallarta.
Bit of a gong show at airport on arrival, about 1 1/2 hours to get through to bus. Very good duty free and overall shopping at airport on the departure but a little pricey. Departure was smooth compared to arrival.
Overall we really enjoyed our trip as did the other couple we were travelling with. We felt the vacation was a very good dollar value. We would recommend and would go again.

Room Tip: block 4 was quiet. also close to tropical restautant/buffet which we found more comfortable and bett...

I recently stayed at the Royal Decameron in Nuevo Vallarta (Oct 19-26/13). I have stayed here at least 6 times but not recently.

The Resort has not changed much but they have added free wi-fi in lobby 4 and the lobby bar. The rooms are basic, no shampoo and limited english tv.

With the off-season, the hotel has sold itself at low cost to locals, and tour groups. There was little room in most of the pools, and the food at the buffets is slanted to them. The best pool to go to was the adult pool. No children and less people as most there at the resort were families.

While there you must walk the side street to the local town...Bucerias. Very interesting and if adventuresome, you can see how mexicans live. Also, down the beach towards the hotels are massage huts on the beach. They will do a full massage for $20US, but if you want to haggle, you might get it for $15US or $200 pesos.

This hotels was sold to me for a deal, and on that basis, was fine with it. Do not overpay. The food was just ok. I did not try the a la cartes.

Room Tip: Building 5 is the adult section in the back. Building 3 is central and is the only one with an elev...

This was our first trip to Mexico and we choose this hotel as it had the best price for a quick getaway. It had all you needed, lots of bars, buffets, gym, pools, activities, etc. The room was simple but clean and roomy with a large shower/bathroom, king size bed and balcony. It has an adult pool which is great if you are traveling without children and don't want to be around them. We had problems with our a/c one day and they had it fixed immediately. They have their own taxi service with set price list for the surrounding area. Even tried the local bus for $7 pesos each. The only downside was the water was not clear and had jellyfish/stingray warnings. The wifi was really slow also. Would recommend block 5 or 6 if you are looking for a quieter area.

Room Tip: Adult pool is in block 5!
