Just stayed one week at the Decameron and found it totally met our needs. It's not a five star resort but weren't expecting it to be. We wanted an unpretentious casual resort with exceptional value, decent food, and good service, and that's what we got. We met a number of people that have been going to the Decameron for many years and that in itself speaks volumes. The first part of the week was quiet and the weekend was mostly locals.
Pros: prompt friendly service by nearly all staff, 6 pools, 2 buffets with changing themes and a good variety of food, five a la carte restaurants with an unlimited number of reservations, swimming beach with sandy bottom, clean and well-maintained resort; comfortable bed (ours had a foam mattress topper), 15 minute walk into Bucerias
Cons: basic rooms, no fridge in room, only one large bottle of warm water provided, no wash cloths, only dancing and singing for night show ( no comedy, magic, acrobats, etc) and seating is uncomfortable, small cups for drinks (bring your own travel mug), small gym, no hot tubs
We would definitely return to the Decameron if planning a trip to Bucerias/Puerto Vallarta. Would definately recommend the resort to others that prefer great value rather than a fancy resort.More
