If you're looking for a good time in Bucerias on a very limited holiday budget, you want to spend as little as possible for accommodation, leaving most of your hard-earned money for partying and shopping. If you agree with that statement, check out the Cactus Hotel Inn (or the Cactus Inn Hotel—they can't seem to make up their minds!). In the off-season, you'll put up as little as $35CAD (about $50 in high season) for a very clean, comfortable room with queen or king size bed, TV, and Wi-fi. Showers only. They'll usually throw in a microwave and bar fridge, if you ask for them. Some rooms have small kitchens.

You access the Cactus Inn from the lateral road running parallel to Hwy 200, about two hundred feet north of the turn down to the Royal Decameron. Bucerias Centro is a ten-minute walk (60 pesos cab fare) from the Cactus. Once you're at Centro, the Bucerias market and all the major restaurants, clubs, bars, and shops of Bucerias are at your fingertips. Within two blocks of the Cactus itself are a bank, huge drug store, grocery store, liquor store, bookstore, etc. And three inexpensive Mexican restaurants.

The hotel was completely renovated in 2004. Walls, inside and out, are now painted in rich, wild Mexican colours: deep oranges, apple reds, vivid purples, luminescent greens. The overall effect is intensely ALIVE and sufficiently different from Canadian and American colour schemes to be quite uplifting.

In Summary, the Cactus is a very modestly priced, clean, unpretentious little Mexican hotel that will serve wonderfully as a “centre of operations”, so to speak, for young people who want to be out and about, and spending their money on everything but their hotel room.
