We have been staying in the Tokaj Hotel for the third time while driving through and we find it to be a good value hotel in an excellent location. The hotel itself is a bit worn out built in 70-s. The room was spacious and had a big balcony. The furniture of the room has been renewed a couple of years ago. There was no air conditioner but the door of the balcony could let in plenty of fresh air at night.
The breakfast was good on the terrace of the restaurant with scrambled eggs etc. The staff was friendly. There were restaurants nearby, but most of them close at 9 pm only e few are still open till 10 pm.

Tokaj has some of the most famous wine in the world, but unless you are a hyper-wine snob, this town can be done in a day. See the caves, do the tasting, buy your bottles, see the museum, maybe take in the little antique store, walk the river bank down to the riverside terrace for dinner and ice cream...and you are done!
You are not going to get a gourmet meal here, and you are not here for the opera...it's the wine and that's it. And this hotel serves your puposes perfectly. Nothing fancy, this place is obviously Soviet-era in style. The one really nice thing about this place over all the others in town is the balcony. The design is very similar to the Marriott in Budapest because you can sit on your balcony and look out on the vineyards of Tokaj. Have your morning coffee on the balcony and watch all the little, old men toiling in their fields. Then, pick out which one you will go visit (really). Everyone of these guys has a little cave stashed in the hills and will be more than happy to let you taste his wares in hopes that you will buy one of his bottles (buy it). Don't worry about the language, they all know why you are there. That is the most fun I have ever had in Tokaj!

Room Tip: warto obejrzeć wschód słońca nad rzeką, choć nieliczne samochody jeżdżące ulicą mogą nieco hałasować
