“Disappointing”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

Don't go for food if you're hungry - it's a long, long wait. We went for pizza and there was a band which meant it was busy. There was one pizza oven and one guy cooking - we waited, and waited, and waited. Luckily we had fries while we waited, but they were overcooked and very salty. Nice place and good for a beer but you'd be better off going elsewhere for pizza. It wasn't really worth the wait.

“Best Kept Secret not so Secret”
Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

This cafe is quite well hidden from the maddening crowds of Woodville (and SH2), but don't let that make you think it's not well frequented.

This is a beautiful little cafe with a large dining area and beautiful surroundings. Of most interest to us the day we visited was the wood burner keeping the cafe warm and toastie.

The food was very good and portion sizes were generous. We will come back as it makes you forget about the journey still ahead and you can relax.

“Nice Spot”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

Nice place for a cuppa and a bite to eat. Well signposted. Still come upon it as a surprise - nestled away nicely from the road. Rustically pleasent surroundings and lovely food.

“Not like it used to be”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

We have spent quite a few years going to this little spot but won't be gong back any more. The menu has changed so much that there wasn't much to feed hungry blokes or children. Three of us had the fish and it was so over-cooked it was dry and horrible, and the meals were tiny. We heard others complaining at other tables too. The service was very slow and when we complained they told us it was our choice to go there or not. Not impressed at all - very sad considering we have spent many happy hours there in the past.

“Pizza and band night great”
Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

The Pizza and band night was a great night out, worth driving through the Manawatu Gorge to attend, it's not that far. We will be watching out for more of these nights. I believe Pizza nights will begin every Friday from October. The Pizzas were good. We had only visited previously after running the Manawatu Gorge track. Only takes us 1.5hrs to run through. We arranged for a pick up and a stop at the Cafe for coffee and cake which was lovely in the outdoor setting.
