Owner description: Paua World, experience the magic of NZ’s iconic unique shell the Paua. DVD and factory visits, extensive gift shop with factory priced souvenirs and park like grounds. Their is something for everyone including stunning Paua Shell jewellery, NZ Greenstone, Possum Merino which is 30% warmer than Cashmere and NZ's best beauty products made from Manuka Honey, Bee Venom, Lanolin, Olive and Rotorua Mud. You will LOVE our prices!!! All Companies Have a Beginning. Ours was in an old chicken shed in 1979 in the town of Masterton – North Island, New Zealand, population 20,000. Two years later the company and factory was moved South some 14 kilometers to its present purpose built site in the small rural town of Carterton, population 4100. We now have 2 companies, NZDimensionz, Which is our Manufacturing and wholesale company and Paua World-our retail tourist attraction.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

I lived a couple of houses down from Paua World. There is a great selection of jewellery and other collectables all made from the Paua shell, plus other items not made from Paua(Abalone in other parts of the world. There is a wide selection of prices to suit all pockets. The staff are pleasant and professional. Don't drive past there is plenty of parking. Coming into Carterton from the North take the first left down Kent Street. Got the children with you, there is a great play area to keep them occupied, while you shop.

“What a treasure”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

Welcomed by staff upon arrival and advised of where to find a shopping basket and free water as it was a hot day. So lovely and even though we were not far from home (Wellington) it was definately the type of welcome we want to provide for our international visitors.

Was so impressed with the products for sale - and definately not marked up for the international market. This place is a treasure for locals and travellers alike and we will be back.

We both walked out commenting about the excellent level of service and the friendliness of the staff - you guys are doing NZ proud!

“Jewellery and Paua”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

Been there many times now and it is always a must for the girls. They always come away with some nice pieces of jewellery made of paua. Great for the overseas tourist wanting some paua jewellery and great also for the New Zealand citizen wanting to see some local creations from paua.

“So much to see in great setting, a fine tourist shop in a town really going for it”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

The big sign on state highway 2 directs you to Paua World. I'd heard the silly poems on the advertisements and chuckled but had never been there before. With my lady about to return to Philippines after her trip to New Zealand, it was a great way to buy both gifts for her and for her family sourced from our most colorful mollusc. The place has its own factory and shop which includes a little cafe, clean clean toilets and informative videos playing. The wealth of choice in the shop is amazing, from quite cheap (but not nasty) trinkets, to some really exquisite pieces with the price tag that goes with it. We chose some goodies and would have chosen more had the tshirt selection been better, but the best piece was a sterling silver fronded fern with Paua inlay for my babe. Reasonably priced for a locally designed, one off piece and one of many similar beautiful exclusive designs. We could have spent hours there, such was the selection and the silly adverts that make me chuckle must be working, the place was packed , and well served by attentive, friendly and informative staff. A must see in the Wairarapa.
