Free wi-fi (sometimes given 30 minutes, sometimes 1 hour - no pattern I could spot based on server on on amount spent, so I try to remember to ask for an hour).
The portion sizes are very good value. They seem to assume, quite rightly, that many couples are sharing. Coffee is okay but comes on very large, NZ sizes.

We stopped off here for a late lunch, there was plenty to choose from - both counter food and a blackboard menu. From the counter food I chose a filo parcel with chicken, bacon, mushroom and blue cheese which was really good - very tasty. My partner chose the 'Carterton Burger' from the blackboard menu. He ordered a side of fries as the burger comes on its own.

When the burger arrived we couldn't believe the size of it - there were two wooden bamboo skewers holding it together. We really wish we had taken a photo of it but didn't think about it at the time. It must have been about 10 inches high and a major feat of engineering to build it.

It had two meat patties, two rings of pineapple, two big rashes of bacon both doubled over, an egg, beetroot, cheese, tomato and other salad bits. It was stacked between a fresh baked wholemeal burger bun. Needless to say the burger combined with the fries was extremely filling so he didn't need to eat for the remainder of the day.

We both had coffee which we ordered extra hot - it was exactly as we ordered.

A great place to stop for breakfast, brunch, lunch, morning tea or afternoon tea. Being a bakery means there are plenty of tasty treats to eat in or take home as well.

Hungry, looking for good coffee and freshly baked goodies, husband spied Wild Oats and we did a u-turn to park nearby. A great move. We were rewarded with a lovely smiling welcome and service. We each chose a delicious, big, freshly baked hot cross bun - the best we have tasted - and perfectly brewed Revive coffee. We were served a generous amount of butter for each big bun and our coffee was steaming. Perfect! We lingered awhile in comfy chairs overlooking the street before heading on our way. Today we drove straight back there for a repeat serving and a packet of 6 yummy buns to take home. All the food on offer looks superb. The baker deserves the accolade of New Zealand's Bakery of the Year. Today there were many people happily enjoying his fare. The place was abuzz. Meals looked delicious too. The restaurant is spacious, comfortable and the service is superb. A winning combination! We know where we shall stop in future on our way through the Wairarapa.

I have enjoyed the quality of food at Wild Oats in the past , but this was the first visit in a while & I wholeheartedly agree with the previous reviewer that it has gone badly downhill.
I concur that the coffee is terrible - not sure how they can actually call it coffee, it is warm milk that may have once seen a coffee bean!
The food is much worse quality with a hefty price tag considering it is a small town bakery. We ordered a steak sandwich which despite a pretty decent price came as just a steak sandwich, no fries or salad as you would get for that price elsewhere. They asked how the steak should be cooked and we requested rare - what we got was a completely incinerated piece of meat - you couldn't get further from rare if you tried.
The staff were surly and unpleasant and I would recommend leaving this one when there are so many cafes and restaurants on offer in the area - I cannot imagine that it would be hard to find better.
