This man made lake with all its landscaping and large trees, lime pathways and views of bird life, the Tararuas and the sound of the river, makes a walk with or without family, a special experience. There are many options of which track and distance to choose; the map at the entrance on Te Ore Ore road indicates these clearly.
Children will love biking along the back track alongside the river particularly, as there are kid friendly challenges along the way.
The older walkers are able to take the shortest route around the lake, in safety, on a level pathway. Wheelchairs may cope with this option. White swans, ducks and even remote controlled speed boats add interest to this location. A viewing tower in the wetlands area also adds perspective to the whole area. Dog walkers, please remember to keep dogs on a lead, especially during the bird breeding season, as indicated.
