We liked Maison Carrel so much that we planned our ski route each day to include it! The range and quality of food is excellent - including delicious salads, polenta dishes, Valdostana specialities and great hot chocolate. Service is friendly and welcoming and the place has a happy buzz of tired skiers eating good food. It gets extremely busy between 12.30 and 1.30 so if you don't book, it's advisable to avoid these times. Absolutely the best place on the slopes in La Thuile to eat. You may wonder why so many people mention the toilets - but when most of the facilities for ladies are 'shower tray' style, these were very welcome - super clean and on the same level as the restaurant!

I'm just sorry that it took me so long to get round to writing this review. We were staying in La Rosiere but skied most days in La Thuile. Most of the mountain 'restaurants' were in fact more like cafeterias where you queue up with a tray and select from a display cabinet. No such thing at Maison Carrel, we hadn't booked the first time we visited (I recommend that you do) but the very friendly waitress arranged a table for us that we shared with another couple. The service was brilliant, the food was superb and great value. We ate here every day following our first visit. each day there was a fantastic special starter and main dish. Definitely worth a visit and probably best book ahead if you don't wish to wait or insist on a table to yourself. Great pasta dishes and roast meats. Friendly and relaxed service, well done and we'll be back!! Best wishes, Mark

When skiing in the beautiful La Thuile-La Rosière you MUST have a stop here (and don't miss the tagliere Valdostano... please...)!

This was the best stop for lunch, we went back twice. Great loos too. Nice choice of food, big portions. Very nice big tables with benches, perfect for large groups. friendly service. You can book a table to guarantee one being available. the deserts were to die for, especially the chocolate cake. Really superb view. Highly recommend. 5*.
