Terrific place and well deserving of all its fine reviews. Immaculately clean and hospitable. Susannah is a gem especially as I had two croissants/brioche each morning as opposed to just one mentioned below! The location is ok, the walk to and from the old town and the lifts is a bit of a pain and there's still a little bit of an uphill hike to and from the slopes. The free bus stops nearby, is reliable in its timekeeping but stops fairly early after skiing. I had a single room that was as large as many doubles or twins and the bathroom was superb. Susannah booked me dinner on three occasions, but I was unimpressed with Le Rascard, off-hand service and over-priced food. However, she did recommend a winner in Le Coq Maf - two of the best steaks I've had anywhere in the world at a brilliant price in a lively atmosphere (and the beer was the best all week too!) I would recommend the du Glacier without reservation (get it?), especially if the alternative is the soulless and monolithic Planibel.

We stayed here in 2004 and my daughter and I looking to return to La Thuile found it every bit as good as we remembered. A boot and ski room with boot heaters. Excellent breakfast, spotlessly clean enjoy a beer or tea in the bar after your days skiing. Susanna who runs the hotel works tirelessly to help make your stay a pleasure.
Unless you're a beginner it is a few minutes walk and then you can ski to the lift. It is close enough to village centre to access all restaurants etc, but is peaceful for a quiet night. Susannah is very helpful in booking tables at restaurants and you get a discount from most.
Our favourite Le Rascard was the closest run by Carlo and his family excellent food, Carlo's wife runs the kitchen, and friendly efficient service.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for value and the package including 6 day lift pass saves money if you plan to ski only in La Thuile/La Rosiere

Having stayed in a rather more upmarket hotel last year when we first visited La Thuile (now called the Miramonti) I wouldn't waste my money again. The Hotel du Glacier absolutely wins hands down for service, space, comfort and value. As mentioned by previous reviewers it is true that the lady-owner Suzanna is absolutely key in all of this. She is hands-on every day at breakfast serving plentiful hot drinks and croissants (no sign of the "corrosions" mentioned by the previous reviewer). She will recommend and book your table for dinner - and you are strongly advised to take her up on this as she has 10% off deals for her guests in several restaurants. If you relax in the hotel bar for a pre-dinner beer it will likely be Suzanne who brings it for you. Whatever you need she bends over backwards to help. She also has tons of local knowledge and advice and on top of this, she's a really nice person! When my teenage daughter managed to leave her Blackberry in reception as we left the hotel to return home (surely the first time it had left her hand all week) the ever-obliging Suzanna duly packaged it up and posted it safely back to us in London. Now that's service. The spotless, comfortable and well-maintained rooms are a very good size (certainly superior to the pricier Miramonti), with plenty of storage and hanging space for all your ski gear, a spotless well-appointed bathroom and the whole place is always lovely and toasty. The "cold buffet" breakfast is abundant with plenty of variety to suit most tastes, and tons of hot tea/coffee/chocolate to warm you up for the day ahead. Going to La Thuile? Look no further than the charming Hotel du Glacier. We will definitely go again.

We stayed at the hotel on March 2009.
Our room at the first floor was moderate. No mountain view. Room and bathroom were very clean. After reading the previous reviews, I was a bit disappointed.
Breakfast is cold buffet, except the warm corrosions, that Susanna hands out one for each.
We stored our ski gear at the rental place, under the cable car (it's free if you rent there), so we took the bus (50 m' from the hotel) every morning. In the afternoon, we came back by foot. It's a nice walk - although it's uphill, and you can stop on the way at the candy store for a hot chocolate.
The hotel has a very pleasant lobby / bar, with table game, were you can sit with a coffee or a drink to relax. The only thing - we were there alone.
The hostess - Suzanna is very nice and helpful. She knows her town and will gladly help you with restaurant recommendations and reservations. She is always nice and smiling, and makes you feel welcome

We stayed at the Du Glacier for a ski trip to La Thuile, this is about the 4th time we have stayed here. Why do we keep coming back? - because of the owners!

Suzannah will ensure you have a great stay here, and will go out of her way to help you with restaurant recommendations, reservations, weather forecasts and so on. The hotel is located a 5 minute stroll from the top of the nursery slope - from where you can ski down for the main lifts and gondola.

The rooms are a good size, with great views of the mountains, and all have balconies. The bathrooms are big, and well appointed, although most have showers rather than a bath. There aren't any tea/coffee facilities in the room, but they have small bar area downstairs where they'll make you hot drinks to take up to the room.

Another nice touch are the complimentary boot warmers in the boot room - always good to start the day with warm toes!

I went to this lovely resort on 1st Feb 2009 for a week, i stayed at the Hotel Du Glacier, the hotel is approx 10 mins walk to the nearest slope which is the nursery and that links to the main Bosco Express chair in the main area. Alternatively you can take the bus which runs every 30mins and takes 5 mins to the Planibel complex which is also the main area. The hotel was charming with a large shower room, This hotel is on a B&B basis only and it's a cold breakfast only, however that apart the hotel is great the cleanliness is outstanding and not a mark can be seen anywhere. The owner Suzanna made us feel very welcome, I would certainly stay here again. We travelled with Crystal who have now provided me with the 2 worst sets of reps possible, on this trip they were lazy , uniformative and could always be found in a bar, not once despite seeing them every day did they ask how we were getting on or enquire how our holiday was, in comparision to the Neilson reps of Jan 2009 who couldn't do enough to help, this lot were a total waste of time, I'll stick with Neilson next year. The snow however was fantastic on the Italian side and lousy in La Rosiere and the link back from France is a long button...Eating out, We tried "La Rascard", the food was poor, and expensive and we found the owners to be poor in service, the best restaurant in my opinion without a doubt was La Grotta, don't be put off by the tables near the door the restaurant proper is to the left of the entrance, the food was great the steak came with a peppercorn sauce and was excellent, the service to was excellent and the bill for 4 was 109 euro!.. We hired our gear from Berthod which is right next to the gondola, and again the service was very good, the other ski hire shop which is about 50 metres further away is "Only Ski" and reports from there were very good too.all in all an excellent holiday and only let down was The Crystal Reps Again !!.
