Good value, good atmosphere, great ribs! My only complaint is that the meal took nearly an hour to come out. It's not usually that slow.. Maybe the chef was feeling the pressure tonight? I'll definately go back for more. BYO too which is a bonus!

We both had crab cake starters which were very tasty followed by a very good chicken & chorizo Jambalaya.

He's a good ole Southern boy making the best dang pork ribs in the state of Auckland. I'm a kiwi who's lived in the states and can verify "they been done right" ! ! Now the place was packed to the rafters when we arrived, table had been booked, and with a bit of an off hand wave the waitress said "sit where you like" - not too professional. The place was noisy with the wooden floors and tables quite close, kids whirling in and out with parents who didn't mind that they were being a bit of a nuisance. This changed when the hour grew later. Yes we waited almost an hour for "the ribs", and let me tell you it WAS worth the wait. Thank goodness I only ordered the half plate of ribs. My husband ordered a full portion and it nearly covered the table. Unusual for him, there were left overs for the "go bag". THE RIBS ARE TO DIE FOR. The cole slaw was worse for waiting in the heat of the kitchen as it was soggy and limp, attention to detail a bit short on a busy night. Jambalaya serves a variety of cuisine, Cajun/Creole, southern "cheeken" and a dash of mexican with some of the standard favs of burgers and steak thrown in to please all. I like that you can BYO wine but they do have alcohol for sale. Another big plus for me FRANKS HOT SAUCE on the table, there are just some things you miss form the US !!! Interestingly, they had a still bubbling away on the counter with a local hot sauce that was brewing. Be back soon . . . . . . . . .
