The perfect stop over for a tired traveller. Hot spaaa. I was well received by Rob and Lynne, up graded to a king room and served a beautiful breakfast. It was retro heaven. Clean, tidy and beautifully presented. I tried to book again this weekend but they are overflowing. Not surprised.

My first thoughts on entering our room here was "Basic, Rustic" Dare I even say "backpackerish?"
Definitely designed in the "70"s and never updated. And COLD!!!!
It had an old 19" crt tv. No dvd player.Stainless steel shower enclosure.
It had a small electric fan heater attached to the wall that would run for about 20 seconds then cut out for a minute.Provided no warmth whatsoever. It did have another heater in the bedroom , plus electric blankets, so we didn't expire from hypothermia.
Continental breakfast was delivered to our room and put in the fridge for the next morning. The milk froze.
Having said that, the owner was very friendly and helpful.
It also had free, unlimited and quite fast wifi.

Thank you for your positive comments regarding the hosts and Wi-Fi.
Yes, Anglers Paradise Motel was built in the late seventies and another section was added in the mid eighties and there has been no major reconstruction since…but we need to contradict your statement regarding updating. The furnishings have been updated progressively and the fishing motif which was introduced in the eighties has been maintained.
The TV’s are 21 inch (not 19) and we are looking to update the TV setup in the near future.
We are sorry that this couple found the unit to be cold, but had they let us know (by dialing 800) we could have helped with this. The large King and Twin Studio units have a storage heater which operates on a timer during winter and if more heat is required there is a wall mounted fan heater which also operates in a fan or cooling mode which appears to be the mode in which this couple used it as it seems to be working correctly and effectively subsequently.
We are very concerned for the comfort and well-being of our guests and to assist us with this we do need them to let us know if they have any problems, anytime, day or night, just phone 800 and we will do our best to help.

This establishment has very nice & tidy grounds which is kept in pristine condition by the owner (which we found helpful & respectful of his customers). However, the same cannot be said about his wife.....She has the most unpleasant personaility & she found it difficult to muster even a hello when one passed her on the grounds. It must be an awful chore for her to face her customers on a daily basis, let alone see to their needs....We also had a million mosquito's in our room. Despite the heat, we were unable to open the windows and had no heat pump in the room either. We didn't sleep much during our stay. We also found the rooms, especially carpet, quite dirty. Behind the cupboards, we found dead insects so certainly haven't had a clean for a while. All in all, I would not recommend this as a good place to stay.

We thank this person for their positive comments about our grounds and hostpitality,but.... I can assure her that Lyn has no problem at all chatting with her guests and more over enjoys doing so and assisting where possible with their needs.
This couple and their two year old child stayed with us for five nights. The husband was away on business during the day and the mother and child remained at the motel during most of this time.
We have extensive and private grounds which include a heated pool, spa, childrens play area and trampoline, all for the use of our guests.
After several nights Lyn had cause to speak to this person regaurding the state of their unit, namely the food ground into and on the carpet, walls, windows and furniture, which required considerable attention each day from our cleaners.I believe an atempt to clean the carpet was made by the guests.
When this family left the unit required a "spring clean" and because of the dampness of the carpet, was taken out of availability for twenty four hours.
A permanent reminder of this family is the teeth marks in the wooden blanket box.

The location is at the border of Turangi. It takes around fifteen minutes to walk to restaurants and shops. It a good place for day trips to the Tongariro Nationalpark. The rooms are big and clean. To the Motel belongs also a restaurant for having dinner and a swimming pool. The hosts are friendly. They can organise activities around the area and the national park.

Cleanest motel unit I have ever stayed in. The buildings are not new, but the room was spacious, well laid out and nicely decorated, the bed was very comfortable. It was very cosy, a home away from home. Lovely gardens, a swimming pool, private courtyards, plenty of parking, quiet location. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, the dog Echo is gorgeous. I would recommend this motel to anyone.
