“Yum!”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

We stopped here for lunch after visiting Rafting NZ. Excellent food and service. The anti-pasto platter was delicious and the kids enjoyed the seafood platter. They thought the chips were delicious!

“Tasty, affordable food”
Reviewed November 6, 2013 via mobile

We popped by the cafe for a quick lunch of pizza and quiche. The margerita pizza ($10) was thinly crusted, which is a winner with us. The tomato and cheese layer was nicely done, and flavourful enough without toppings. The spinach and feta quiche ($4) was tasty as well. We then decided to give it a second go for dinner the next day. The seafood basket ($16.50) was quite nice but do ask for less salt when you order as they are quite liberal with the sodium toppings. I particularly liked the breaded scallops. The smoked chicken pasta ($12.50) was also great. The sauce was nicely seasoned and not salty, and the dish was given just the right amount of sauce without being overly creamy and tiring to get through. Overall, we would recommend the cafe.

“disgusting / ripoff”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Almost un-eatable. Pie, mash, peas & gravy ordered $10. Took ages to be served only to discover chips instead of mash, no gravy and a very dry pie. The pizza was awful with very little topping, base wasn't crisp, etc, etc. Made us feel ashamed to be KIWIS's if this is what they serve tourists.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

3 adults and 3 children, 2 children had been on the rock climbing business next door and were famished. We noticed very little vegetarian options, so settled for Toasted sandwiches. Stated clearly to the lady who took our orders that 3 were vegetarians; When the sandwiches arrived, they were made from cheese and Bacon Bread....... They were returned, meanwhile very hungry children. We were charged $8.50 per sandwich with very little filling. $78.50 for 5 sandwiches, 2 coffees and 2 smoothies, 1 x fries; Not happy. The owner then served us, she was lovely, but we were embarrassed.

Thank you for your review, I am very disappointed that your self & your family left Toi Cafe with ill feeling. We pride ourselves on great service & great food and saddened this was not delivered in this instance. Firstly, in regard to vegetarian options- we do have blackboard options listed vegetarian pasta, salads, toasted sandwiches & a vegetarian pizza available. We have two vegetarian options in the front Cabient at all times, on this particular day I can only assume that these may have sold out.
I do remember arriving in time to serve your sandwiches upon delivering you mentioned that certain members of your family were vegetarian & you could not eat 3 of the sandwiches provided.I apologised and corrected the issue with 3 new sandwiches.
Our toasted sandwiches are served with a fresh garden salad $8.50, to opt to go without the salad the sandwich is $5.00, to charged the full rate is not acceptable. After speaking with you on the phone days after you denied a refund of the over charged amount.
If you felt you were overcharged at the time & bought it to my attention,I would have happily addressed the problem then & there.
I have spoken with my staff about this issue you have raised and thank you for bringing it to my attention. As mentioned to you on the phone please feel free to pop in next time for coffee on the house.
