Stopped off on the way back from Taupo on a Sunday to have some lunch before we hit the Desert Road. Absolutely terrible place. Freezing cold. Expensive.
The teenaged staff were more interested in flirting with each other than paying customers any attention - deeply sorry I want to contribute to your wages! How inconvenient! Our food was brought separately, so my partner had finished her meal before mine arrived. When my omelette did arrive, it was burnt and almost thrown at me by the surly teenager who brought it.
Terrible food, too expensive, and served by people who not only didn't care, but actually managed to show outward contempt for us, in a place so cold we couldn't take our coats off. Capturing the travelling trade and racking up your prices accordingly is one thing, but actively not caring and displaying contempt for them because they probably won't come back is another.
