We spent 2 nights at this motel, and found the owners and staff very helpful and friendly, offering to do our laundry whilst we went out for dinner in the evening. The room was great, with a well equipped kitchenette and the bed was very comfortable. The motel was within walking distance of the town, (about 10 minutes) which meant we could both have a drink with our dinner in the evening, and also walking distance to the beach. Although we didnt use the pool, but it was a very nice area and ideal for people with children. Also only about an hours drive away from Cathedral Cove and Hot Beach which are well worth the visit. Would definitely recommend this motel.

We stayed at Breakers Motel for 1 night and wished we could have stayed more! People at reception were so so friendly and welcoming, the unit was great, clean, everything we needed was there. The private spa was wonderful, the pool and surrounding very well looked after. We will definitly go back there and recommend to anyone. You can't be wrong with Breakers Motel!

We recently spent the last two nights of our annual summer holiday at Breakers Motel in Whangamata. This is not the first time we have stayed here, in fact it would be about our sixth or seventh, and the reason we keep coming back is because the accommodation and the people are just wonderful. The rooms are well appointed and refreshingly decorated and have spa pools that the guest fills themselves prior to each use. They are always spotlessly clean and tidy. Marie and Doug are amongst the old time hospitality providers that leave a newspaper at your door every morning. Every time we arrive or call to make a booking Marie greets and welcomes us like long lost friends – her ability to remember faces and names is amazing.
Last year my wife and I spent 5 weeks travelling through Europe both independently and on a Mediterranean Cruise. Nowhere did we receive hospitality that is as warm and genuine as Marie’s at Breakers Motel – easily our best hospitality experience any where we have travelled to.
As a side note, when we got home I realised I had left my cell phone charger in our room. I rang Marie and while I was on the phone she went over and checked in the room. She posted it back to me immediately - at her cost. Don’t know where else you would receive service like that!!!
Thanks again Marie and Doug. We will be back again – and again – and again.

Found this motel through an ad on one of our maps, and we were delighted to find last minute availability and a very warm welcome at reception. The unit is tiled instead of carpeted which feels much more hygienic in a motel. Nice big bathroom. The pool was a treat after a long drive and the landscaping around it made it much prettier than most motel pools. The woman at reception recommended a great restaurant and although you have to drive to restaurants, it is well worth
it. Would have loved to have stayed longer.

Room Tip: We has a room off the pool without a spa pool and loved it!

Doug made us very welcome. We were upgraded to a wonderful room with a large hot tub on the patio. The room had a large modern tv. Everything about the room was spotless with some little extras thrown in.

Room Tip: The room we were in was on the second floor & overlooked the pool. This seemed perfect.

From my first enquiry with this operator, I was impressed. Their friendly co-operative attitude was evident.
On arrival, we had a very friendly greeting before being shown to our studio unit. You could not help but be impressed. The unit seemed to sparkle, & the care & cleanliness was evident. Both the main room & bathroom were of a very good size, & tiled throughout. We were impressed by the marble walls in the bathroom. There is a small but very adequate kitchen area. & a small dining table & chairs. The bed is HUGE at least a super king size. Two small lounge chairs, T.V. & a couple of small cabinets basically complete the furnishings.
There is a balcony with outdoor table & chairs plus a private spa pool.
Our outlook was very pleasant being over both the resorts pool & the nearby Marina & small reserve.
The main shopping area plus the main beach are about a 10 minute flat walk away, & there is a large Supermarket about 5 minutes away.
Overall, we were very impressed.

Marie and Doug made us very welcome, with personal attention and were the only ones to show us around our room in 6 weeks of touring NZ. We had a delightful, spacious room, which was well equipped, and included a hot tub on our balcony.
The Motel was well located behind the Marina within easy reach/ walk of all the amenities of Whangamata.
We highly recommend this Motel and would love to return ourselves another time.
