Recently had a dads and kids camping weekend at the Whangamata motor camp which was located perfectly with the beach 100m in one direction and the town shops 100m in the other direction.
It was a lovely campsite with friendly regulars everywhere and was helped by fabulous weather. Being a dads weekend there was no cooking as we ate out the whole time however the facilities Ll looked fine.

Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely stunning spot culminating in a beautiful beach. The main Street is full of Cafes and restaurants allow for a great variety. The Harbouy entrance and the estuary bookend a lovely protected beach but at the Harbour end some good surf can be found for all those board riders

Walk on this beach and your stresses disappear. Dogs are allowed on the beach, which is great. Clean and tidy.

Uncrowded ocean beach, crescent shaped, glistening sand, no high rise or commercial businesses, yet 5 min walk to the cafes, beautiful sur beach, good swimming, good fishing, mostly safe, surrounded by forest clad hills, in other words "PERFECT"!
