“Exactly What We Needed”
Reviewed February 1, 2014 via mobile

One of the real strengths of a B&B should be the welcome by the hosts and their advice on the local area.
Peter and Linda delivered on all counts, with a cup of refreshing tea on arrival, suggestions on where to eat and what to do, and on providing us with a spade for our visit to Hot Water Beach.
Bedroom was very comfortable and we were encouraged to relax in the lounge area of the house.

This was a great find on the first night of a week long trip from Auckland to Wellington with another couple. Peter, Linda & Rosie their lovely dog were extremely welcoming & with limited choices for accommodation in the area we were very happy both couples were able to find en-suite rooms together. Free wifi was a bonus & something we didn't expect since all the hotels we stayed in only offered 30minutes a day free. By the time we headed out for dinner armed with some great suggestions from Peter & Linda we felt like part of the family. Whilst there was a selection of cereals & toast on offer we were a little disappointed the 'cooked breakfast' was only an omelette but we were all content with what we had. I would recommend staying here for the comfort & good company.

Room Tip: Only 3 to choose from so hope you are lucky

From day one we were treated like good friends. The double room we were in was spacious with a ensuite bathroom and toilet. Peter and Linda were lovely hosts and made us fell very welcome, so did Rosie their dog.
They gave us some good ideas for things to do and see in the area but they also had numerous brochures and leaflets on hand for other popular sightseeing. For breakfast we had the choice of cereals, juices and fruit. A cooked breakfast was available and served by Peter.
Safe shallow swimming at the Estuary for families and for surfers and adults the main beach was a short walk away.
Kotuku is situated at the quiet end of the bay and

Bedrooms very good, with excellent shower. Breakfast reasonable ( don't have the omelette ) All bedrooms open into living area,i.e. breakfast dining area or lounge area.
Quite Location with easy walk to one of the beaches.
Whangamata very limited to restaurants at night in May (off season ) in fact may have none.
Only 1 open on our 1st night, ''Oceana's'' very good.Nothing open the next 2 nights.Peter and Linda were very good and got us signed into the Local Serviceman's Club one night. 2nd night into the Sports Club. Both were very good with excellent food and drink. One of the best draught beer I've tasted. Peter's advice on places to visit etc were spot on. Good centre for visiting the Coromandels
Good Value for Money

We loved our three night stay at Peter and Linda's bach. It's close to the centre of town but far enough from it to be very peaceful and relaxing. The bach was fully equipped with everything we could possibly need, and more, and Peter and Linda went out of their way to make us comfortable and ensure our stay in Whangamata was a great one.
