Step through the door and you step into a different world. Certainly not one of bright light, chrome, glass and black leather of a modern city restaurant; but rather dark and rustic and very much in the style of an old rural English pub – shades of Emmerdale Farm. A building of so many nooks and crannies that one could become lost, or hide away from the rest of the patrons.
Local legend has it the owners have been there for over 30 years and some of the patrons have been coming back again and again for about the same time.
The service is cheerful and friendly, but don’t expect to be asked for your drink order, the wine list is on your table and you ask. Certainly not pushy service, just friendly country pub style.
When it comes to prices expect to pay average restaurant rates like starters from $8 to $15 and mains from $25 to $35 but be prepared for generous servings of wholesome if dated menu items, but then who would turn down a huge steak with all the trimmings. You don’t need to order side dishes to give you a complete meal.
Overall nobody should leave Forta Leza with an empty feeling – hearty generous food from an age of real restaurant meals!
