“Join The Club”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2014

Some resorts like to use the word "club" to give the impression they are in some way more than just an impersonal commercial enterprise. The Meridian Club on Pine Key however, is the real deal.
On a recent 4 day stay as a couple, we were surprised that even though there was no initiation fee, no social background check, no supporting letters required , and no dues payable beyond the all inclusive room charges, this place is as much of a club as any you are likely to join...and a lot more welcoming and friendly than most.
If you want to be alone, this is not the place for you. If you want peace and quiet during the day,
but jolly company at meals and cocktail hour, this is your,,,club. Jacket and tie not necessary.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms.

Taking the boat over to this private setting sets the tone to this quiet low key paradise island. The island is just a few feet above sea level. So you have a perfect view of the island. It has fresh water ponds which is special on these islands. Most of the staff and the owners of the homes on the island have known each other since the early 1970's. The bond and pride of keeping this resort in a special time capsel is apparent. And those that visit appreciate stepping back in time- no phones -no tv just fun beach items --day sail boats etc..

Room Tip: i visited for the day so cannot recommend a room just recommend taking the day trip for the pool set...

The Meridian Club on Pine Cay was the absolute best honeymoon (really the best vacation) spot you could go to. From the time we stepped on the boat to go to Pine Cay to the moment we stepped off on our last day was just incredible. We went on the fourth of July weekend, and had the whole place to our self for several days out of our week long stay!! When you arrive, the staff know you by name and continue to remember it all week. The dining, staff, and atmosphere all deserve 5 stars! My husband an I were looking to really get away from it all, and we found THE perfect place to do that. We enjoyed lounging by the beach, taking an afternoon nap, riding around on golf carts, a trip to a nearby island where we had a lovely few hours shell hunting, snorkeling, and enjoying a delicious picnic lunch that was packed for us, and, most of all, we loved that weren't surround by big crowds or overwhelmed with options of things to do. If you don't relax on the first day, trust me, you will have no choice but begin to at least by the second or third day. The ultimate place for some R&R! We loved this place and the staff so much that it is hard for us to book another beach trip anywhere else. We stayed 7 days, but we could easily have stayed a month, it even rained us out completely 2 or 3 days when we were there (we booked in the beginning of their rainy season), but it didn't even put a dent in our stay. Don't hesitate to book your trip here, you get much more than a good vacation, you get incredible friends and memories that'll last you a lifetime. I have no doubt we will be returning shortly

Room Tip: The Sand Dollar cottage is well worth the little bit of extra money! It's the perfect spot for a...

My recent stay at the Meridian Club on Pine Cay realized my white sand beach, crystal blue water travel dream and then some. It may have actually set the bar so high for natural beauty, relaxation and hospitality that any other future resort vacation will likely pale in comparison.

The beach is absolutely beautiful! Pictures barely capture how beautiful, peaceful and secluded it really is. More often than not we were the only guests on the beach. Every room, the dining room and the pool all have the most amazing views of the ocean.

With no in-room TV, radio or phone, and no cars, shops or nightclubs on the island (it’s just the Club and private homes) this is the perfect atmosphere to simply take in the lovely surroundings and reconnect with yourself and whomever you're traveling with. The quiet island life might not be for everyone, but it was perfect for this 30something. Think tranquil retreat, escaping real life or the most romantic honeymoon spot. Or both!

It’s easy to find your own rhythm to each day – relaxing on the beach under the hut just outside the room, walking the beach, looking for shells and sand dollars, swimming, napping, and snorkeling or sea kayaking when the mood strikes. You can also book spa services, take a yoga class or bike ride around the island. If you do want to stay somewhat connected to the outside world, there is wi-fi available near the club house. The spotty connection, while annoying at first became a blessing and I found myself less and less interested in what was happening off the island.

The Meridian Club staff was super friendly and accommodating without being over the top. Meals were out of this world, with such fresh flavors and ingredients. The chef took great care of this long-time vegetarian. I loved everything they came up with for me, which made me feel like I was realizing another dream of having a personal chef! Oh, and the desserts were heavenly. We had a hard time deciding between all the options at dinner one night, so we chose three desserts to share! Ah, vacation!

I would go back in a heartbeat and recommend the Meridian Club to anyone looking for an island getaway where you can truly get away from it all.

This place is quite exceptional, and that is comparing it with the best resorts in the Caribbean. Andrew Harper's Hideaway report recommended this as a special beach hideaway and we tried it and we re-booked for twice as long a stay next time, it's that good.

Beach, water sports, activities: 2 mile long soft sand beach, the nicest swimming beach we have ever been to. Paddle boarding, Hobie Cats, kayaks, excellent pool. Only 13 rooms plus the private homes on the entire island. You will be the only one on the beach 80% of the time, the rest of the time there will be 2 or 4 other people somewhere on the 2 mile stretch.

Cuisine - they have a true chef, Shane, outstanding classic European-style tasting menu. Very difficult to pull off on such an isolated location. Reasonably priced French wine selection. If you like fine dining while being on a deserted island, this is it.

We could go on and on, take a look at the online photos and that's exactly what it is!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful review. We strive very hard to keep The Meridian Club the type of property people want to return to again, and again. So our greatest praise is when people book another trip, and also extend that trip longer.

The Staff, awesome, the beaches, perfect, food is Prepared and Presented in Mezmerizing fashion but I managed to eat every bit! The SPIRIT of the place and the people are really what sets this resort apart from almost all others. I paddled, swam, snorkeled, and walked the beaches a LOT but you can just relax and enjoy the resort itself and gain a feeling of peace and contentment that actually carries over when you return to life on the mainland! This is one of the few places we will return to.

Room Tip: There are only 13 rooms, they're ALL fantastic. Each has a living room, the moving wall (We ne...

We just returned from a lovely, relaxing stay on Pine Cay! The world famous beach is exactly like the photos and the rooms exactly like the website. There are no cars...only golf carts. The food is delicious. There...those are the nuts and bolts. What is harder to convey is the FEELING that one gets when there. The staff know you by name within minutes, always greet you on the paths with a smile and there is a real sense of being welcomed into the Pine Cay family. The atmosphere is evocative of old Caribbean...board games in the lodge, star gazing, long walks on the beach, hours with a good book, a sail or snorkel and chatting with other serenity seekers. While there are the necessary nods to the modern world (wifi, cell reception), the whole point is to free yourself from these reminders of the outside world.

Beverly, Wally and the entire staff have created a perfect oasis!

It is so very quiet..the rhythmic surf as background music.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Meridian Club is a private island hideaway resort in the Turks & Caicos islands of the Caribbean, with two miles of deserted, pristine white-sand beach (just 90 minutes by air from Miami). The property is environmentally sensitive and ideal for those seeking an unspoiled secluded retreat. Founded in 1973, the Meridian Club offers a Caribbean experience the way it was before the appearance of big hotels and condominiums, jet skis and beach umbrella communities. No crowds, no cars, no noise - a step back in time to a simpler, less hectic life. 12 beachfront/premium rooms and the Sand Dollar Cottage are set among sand dunes, sea oats and sea grapes, fronting on the beach. Some of the privately owned homes that share the island are also available for rent. Soothing trade winds ensure comfortable temperatures and low humidity year round while the surrounding waters (averaging a pleasant 75° - 80° Fahrenheit) teem with marine life. Underwater visibility often exceeds 100 feet and there are miles of coral gardens within a five minute boat ride. Ashore, Pine Cay remains a pristine natural haven, a private secluded island with vast open space and seven freshwater ponds, a perfect habitat for the abundant local fauna and flora. Winner of several awards from TripAdvisor, Andrew Harper, Caribbean Journal and Fodors honored. ... more   less
