“A place where you will feel most welcome!”
Reviewed April 5, 2012

A speck of an Island in the Atlantic that time has passed by. A handfull of people - perhaps 75 - live here surviving on tourists coming to dive and whale watch for 3-4 months a year. Pretty easy to get to - a couple of flights a day from Providenciales taking 30 minutes. Several homes have been fixed up into comfortable accommodations that can be found on the internet. Diving is very good and close by, whale watching is rewarding from February to April. There are 3 restaurants and a couple of bars to cater to your needs but everything is simple. Bring your kids and enjoy! Donkeys, cows and chickens round out this friendly little island.

“Return Visitor, Thankfully Only a Little Has Changed”
Reviewed March 21, 2012

This is my fifth trip to this island since 1999. It is small and walkable. The beauty of nature abounds. Islanders, visitors, and expats are all very friendly. This is the place to go if you want to relax, enjoy beautiful scenery, and hang out at the local watering holes, becoming a part of the island community. You can feel as if you own one of the world's best beaches, as most likely yours may be the only footprints seen. Bring your snorkel gear and explore the reefs without the need to step foot on a boat. If you are looking for touristy attractions and places to shop, this is not the place. If you have read other reviews, yes, animals run free on the island, including cats, dogs, donkeys, chickens, and cows. They are part of the charm.
The negative aspects of this island also relate to it's remoteness. Food is not cheap. Logistics can be an issue. There is some political unrest here. On the date that we were scheduled to leave, the firemen went on strike. That meant that no airplanes could land. We were delayed for two days, having to find a place to stay overnight on Provo, and accruing two USAirways change fees, plus food, had us spending an extra $1000, and scrambling to orchestrate care for our children and animals back home. Before you plan to come here, make sure you know the current political environment.

“AMAZING!!!!”
Reviewed March 15, 2012

Our family reserved for 4 days the entire Castaway. I doubt you will find a more pristine beach with some of the best snorkeling 100ft from your bed. The food at Island Tyme is delicious. We did not have a single bad dish in 4 days.
We went whale watching twice, and saw whales both days. On the second day the calf kept breaching out of the water under the watchful eyes of his mom and dad, giving us an unforgettable memory of how nature looks at its best.
