We stopped here on our way home from Scotland to Manchester on Friday 20th June, what a lovely find this hotel is, we were greeted by a lovely young lady, we ordered drinks at the bar and sat in the main room, the 4 of us ordered starters, soup, pate, smoked salmon and Brie wedges, they were amazing, our mains we ordered gammon, scampi and my husband had the steak, these were cooked to perfection, my gammon was moist and tender. Unfortunately we had no room for a dessert because the meals were so lovely.
We sat at the window over looking the garden, sun was shining, birds were singing, it was a lovely quiet lunch.

If your passing the Cressfield is definitely the place to come to at Ecclefechan.

If it wasn't so far away I'd make this our date night place to come :)

Don't take my word for it, you need to visit :)

Enjoy from Renata & Tim Dauncey, Ben & Bev Wilson :)

“Great place to stay”
Reviewed October 15, 2013 via mobile

I stayed here with a party of 8 other fishermen for 2 nights.
The accommodation food And service were all excellent.
Hotel is well maintained and spotlessly clean and the food at dinner and breakfast really good. Fantastic value for money. Will be back next year.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

We found this hotel by pure chance. A fantastic experience. We booked for two nights but stayed for the week.
Attentive staff, wonderful food (wide choice of menu)
Cleanliness at A Star as far as we are concerned, no dusty corners and clean shower and toilet units.
The owner, Nigel, oversees everything efficiently and calmly.
I could go on but suffice to say we booked for next year on departure.
An experience we look forward to repeating.
