Hubby and I booked direct with the Hotel for two nights, Wednesday 11th & Thursday 12th of September 2019. Free parking is always a plus! As I noticed a lot of hotels in the area and surrounding area are ‘self park’, which can leave you a bit stuck at times, or sometimes more costly. So free parking was great! The staff were very friendly and helpful, efficient and informative too. The room was really lovely, with a big tv and even a lovely fire (log affect) which would be romantic in the winter. We could even see the sea from our room. Tea & coffee Facilities with complimentary biscuits (which we actually refrained from eating?!) also complimentary shampoo, body wash etc etc The breakfast was more than adequate, plenty to choose from, fruit, yoghurt, toast, full English eg fried eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon nice and crispy, sausages, black pudding (which is hard to come by these days) plum cooked tomatoes, baked beans, to name just a few! Fresh orange juice, tea including speciality teas, coffee, absolutely loads of choice! The breakfast area is really lovely with a wonderful big window. The refurbishment so far is looking really good! The new owners are really pulling out all the stops! Good luck to them, they truly deserve to do well!

Room 234. Rooms have obviously been updated BUT this particular room should be allocated as a single and not a double due to the overall size. The room overlooks the rail tracks with trains passing every 15minutes relief came from the noise around midnight. There was one opening window for which you had to stand on a stool to open or close. Closing the window made no difference to blocking out the train noise. There was only one bedside table and reading lamp due to the size of the room the space between the bed and the wall was approximately 12 inches. The bathroom had no hooks to hang your towels up these had to be stacked on the side of the bath or on the toilet which is not a very hygienic solution. The milk cartons had gone off and had to get replacements. We got no satisfaction when we made a complaint to reception only to be told that the room was discounted we were paying £100 for this room . This booking was made a year ago for 2 rooms, 1 family room 1 double room as a family member was taking part in the GNR.

Room tip: Make sure your not overlooking the rail tracks

We arrived here for a special birthday weekend, having stayed 2 nights in St Valery B&B in Alnmouth which exceeded our expectation, this hotel was utterly disappointing, very cheaply renovated, cheap toiletries, dreadful breakfast, breakfast tea in an urn type jug, who knows how long it had stood, yuk. For the price we paid I cannot warn future clients enough. Do not expect style or comfort.

This hotel is well placed by the sea on the edge of Tynemouth, meaning that you can cross the road and stroll along Longsands beach to the priory and high street.

We had a room on the side with a partial view of the sea. Our room was rennovated but it is clear that the work is ongoing. The decor and materials in the room were contemporary and I particularly like the modern feature fire below the large screen TV - a nice and unusual touch. The bed was comfortable and the rain-head shower was one of the best I have stood beneath.

The finish in places was not too good. I particularly noted that the curtain rail was not straight, there were gaps in the tile in the bathroom and the carpets in the corridors were poorly fitted. I was surprised by the lack of hooks or towelrail in the bathroom - where exactly are you supposed to put your towels and clothes wile showering?

There was no air conditioning and it was a warm night, so we had to keep the window open. The joyriders racing up the promenade and late night revellers were somewhat disturbing.

The public areas are generally OK and the restaurant/ bar was fine (we only had breakfast there) but there was a smell of sewerage in the reception - most likely from the adjacent toilets. This really needs to be fixed - it is not a good first impression.

The buffet breakfast was adequate - there was a decent selection of hot items but a very poor choice of fruit and yogurts. Breakfast was served from 7 until 9. I assume that the target clientele are holidaymakers so finishing at 9 am seems very strange. I like a lie-in when I am on holiday.

The receptionist, when we arrived, seemed barely interested in us and there was no one on the reception when we checked out. This is very odd for a hotel of this size

There was no problem with parking, even though there was a wedding event on one of the evenings.

Overall it was an OK stay but I won't hurry back unless the shortcomings I mentioned are addressed

Room tip: Rooms at the front have a sea view but be aware of the possibility of joyriders on the seafront if you need to sleep with the window open

Booked for an overnight on route to Edinburgh we were pleasantly surprised with the high standards of accommodation
The hotel was renovated last year and our room was very large with comfortable beds, very large walled smart tv and even a very attractive coal effect electric fire. The bathroom was very well appointed with a large bath with an excellent modern shower fitted over the bath. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included in our price but was not the best.
