One night stay at the Grand on a Saturday night, Room was nicely appointed, spotlessly clean with lovely views over the grey North Sea. The entrance and staircase are beautiful, staff were freindly and very helpful. Our room was small but comfortable, some of our freinds had larger rooms so I don't think ours was typical. Breakfast was very good, freshly cooked to order. If I was to have a minor moan the residents lounge bar closed while there were still lots of people in, however it was 2am so I suppose I shouldn't complain.

Room Tip: Check for any special offers, we got a good deal on sea view/executive rooms.

Booked The Grand for a night after an evening in Tynemouth.
First impressions - the entrance and reception lived up to its name, as did the sweeping stair case and lovely views you got from the bar and restaurant.
However when we arrived at our room it was a whole different storey. It was spotlessly clean but very dated in an 80s kind of way and not worth the £105 we paid for it. It was also freezing cold as someone had turned the radiator off - given it was blowing a gale with snow showers this wasn't appreciated. The view was non existent via the very small window which made the whole room dark.
Shower was brilliant but then the hair dryer was one if those stuck to the wall with a long tube coming off it - in this day and age that's not good enough. Ladies definitely take your own.
Our room was quite big but our friends was very small and again no view.
Overall very average.

We booked in for two nights told that the hotel was 25 percent occupancy. The room we were booked into was really tired and hardly any light small window in the bedroom. We could hear all the bathroom fans either side of the rooms . Real shame as we heard really good reports on this hotel. There were cup stains on the furniture and the room felt pretty shabby. We have had better rooms in the centre of London for the same price. Breakfast the waiter told us to sit in the corner of the room and all the tables by the window were free with great views of the bay ...bit faulty towers type scenario !!! Another couple chose a table and were asked to shift. Despite the dodgy rooms the hotel staff were generally okay but the hotel needs updating.

Room Tip: Not sure but maybe worthwhile upgrading however I felt we paid over the top for a shabby room

We stayed her for two nights on the 28th December and although the weather was awful it was easy to spend many hours just sitting in the lounge overlooking the sea. The lounge is cosy and welcoming and the staff delightful. The food was excellent and good very value as were the drinks.
We had a sea view room which was lovely and overall very good value, would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Did not see the back rooms but the sea view rooms are excellant

We recently attended an Xmas party night at The Grand Hotel. It was a works night out and there was aproximately 25 of us. We were welcomed into a bar/drawing room area for a drink before the meal, the room was fab, very stylish and impressive! We went up the swishing staircase into a lovely room where our meal and party night was to be held. The tables were set and the Christmas tunes were playing, there was a bar in an offshoot room. At 8pm as advertised our meal was served, all 3 courses were really good (we have done other hotel Xmas nights and couldn't say the same!). There was organised party games after the food to get us all on our feet and it got the party started quicker than you often find at these events. There was paper on the table for us to write any song requests we wanted playing and a fun quiz about the local area which got us all thinking! We all agreed that the night was perfect and we would d efinately go again next year. The staff were at hand and very friendly giving us loads of attention!

We Stayed at the Grand , Dec 7th for 3 nights, we were with Friends one of whom had seen the Grand as a child and longed to stay there.
We had room 328, and when we got into the room , Wow, what a view , we had the best sea view
ever, the room was large, with georgeous Window seats, the Bathroom was stunning too, with the old fashioned pull chain , we just loved it all .
The restaurant served lovely food and the breakfast was superb , and if you wanted to have a different combination of things , not a problem, our waitress for all of our stay was Abby , and she was a star, so cheerful and nothing too much trouble.
I would recommend this Hotel to EVERYONE
