We have just had a lovely hour or so exploring the lastest 'art' work in Northumberland. What a great concept. Lots of spiral pathways to explore around and on the body. We took a picnic and had it on her belly button! My 8 year old son took great pleasure in shouting 'I'm standing on her left boobie!' and 'Are we walking through her cleavage!!' Great views and lovely pathways. Hard work for wheelchairs due to inclines but lower paths still accessible. Could do with bins, picnic benches and toilets too!! Really interesting to watch the open cast being mined by diggers and lorries in the background. Took my three children aged 12, 8 and 6 and they enjoyed running around the paths. Was a little muddy but hey its February and outdoors!! Free too. A bonus.

Many thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed it.

Just a quick comment on why we don't have, bins, toilets, picnic benches etc. at the moment. One of the key considerations when the park was created was that it was it is free for everyone to enjoy and it is now owned by a charity, the Land Trust and managed for public benefit. We have to ensure this park can be enjoyed by many future generations. As such we need to use our resources wisely to ensure that we can maintain the park long term - so if we can’t fund something long term then we won’t do it. If we charged an entry fee we could do these things quicker but keeping access free is more important However we are constantly looking for sponsorship or funding sources that will enable the facilities to be enhanced and the good news is that a Visitor Centre and Cafe will be coming soon.

Many thanks for you comments. Sorry you didn't enjoy Northumberlandia.

Just for the record, parking is free but we suggest a £2 donation, it is entirely up to the indiviudal as to whether they chose to donate. All donations go towards the upkeep of the park which is now owned by a charity, the Land Trust and managed for public benefit with help from Northumberland Wildlife Trust and Azure Charitable Enterprises.

Just been today for the first time and what a great place, the area is built in the shape of a reclining lady and you can follow several paths that take you in different directions, around the shape. Great fun for the kids as there are lots of different paths to follow.Bit muddy today due to the weather, but sensible foot wear made it alright. Easy access for pushchairs and similar, plenty of parking and disabled spaces. The walk is free and they ask for a £2.00 donation for parking, which is well worth it. Dogs on leads and other than that no other restrictions. Really nice afternoons walk and a great view from the top. Coffee kiosk on sight and a garden centre a mile away for access to a cafe and toilets.

Well, yes it was muddy so boots were needed, but it was a great experience to climb up to her head and then see over into an open-cast coal mine with huge dumper trucks too. A great idea to make something special out of waste materials from the mine and apparently there are 4 miles of pathway around her body. She is not made of slag by the way, so no rude names please!

Unfortunately it was very muddy when we visited and even with wellies we had to give up. However, the structure is impressive and we'll be back in the summer to explore it better.
