La Mar Chica is situated right on the Paseo Maritimo - the coastal promenade from the Torrox Costa Lighthouse site to down past the Hotel Riu Ferrara, at the El Morche end. In fact most of the seating is outside the restaurant, with plenty of shade in the summer months. There are several good quality restaurants along the promenade (Paseo), but La Mar Chica must be considered to be one of the best. There is a huge choice of dishes to suit all tastes, and budgets - all dishes are clearly shown in photographs in a menu on display outside the restaurant. Whether you want a full blown meal, or 'raciones' (smaller dishes), or 'tapas' (small taster dishes), the menu suits all appetites. Chose a combination of several 'tapas' platters (2.95 Euros each in 2009) - with a bottle of house wine - and you can 'people watch' for ages.
The staff are very friendly, and aim to please.
La Mar Chica is always our first one to visit.
The biggest drawback is that it is one of the first to close up after the holiday season (end of Octoberish), so late sun chasers will miss out.
N.B. As at 8 November 2009 the 'Paseo' is being rebuilt (block-paved), so several restaurants have closed early.
