Visited for 3 nights at the end of ski season 2014.

Lovely hotel in a good location close to the centre of Madesimo and 5 minutes walk from the main ski lifts.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and included cooked options as well as continental buffet.

The pool was nice (not very large and only open certain times) but certainly pleasant. Sauna and jacuzzi also lovely. Fitness equipment limited to 3 spinning bikes, 1 treadmill and 1 step machine - if you are feeling energetic!

A very good hotel overall

A splendid basic find with a warm welcome.

We Recently stayed at this small family run hotel and were impressed by the welcome and the attentiveness of the staff furring our stay. The rooms are clean and comfy. An added bonus is it very close to the lift.

We were a group of 4 adults staying for a long week end ski break without the kids. We have all been on lots of ski holidays and enjoy trying new resorts, and for 2 and a half days Madesimo is a charming little resort with a crazy wig wam bar playing a great mix of music for 40 year olds and yongsters alike....a about half a kilometre from the bottom of the slopes which was great fun for après ski drinks from 4 till 5 each days. The hotel itself is charming and the staff are just so friendly, we enjoyed the complimentary nibbles in the bar each evening especially the homemade Parmesan crisps, and the dried hams. We ate there one night and did the tasting menu which was great fun, and despite ordering only 5 courses, we got at least 7. Not all the dishes were to everyone's tastes, but that's what a tasting menu is for IMO. the wine list was very extensive and we found a couple of delicioous selections. The breakfast was fresh, there were cooked options and the coffee was hot and well prepared. The spa was lovely despite the rather weird decor in the swimming pool. We had saunas steams and jacuzzis each night after skiing. My only tiny gripe was that I booked into the annexe not the main hotel, and this wasn't made totally clear to me on booking through booking.com. In future I will make sure I am in the main hotel building if possible, but I think there are only 5 or 6 rooms so will book it early. The hotel was spotless and we all had a totally relaxing time. The walk to the slopes is about 100 yards and the ski hire shop is there too, and you get 10% off there if you stay at the Alpina....very friendly shop let's you leave skis in the shop overnight to save you having to carry them that 100 yards!
Would have got 5 if I'd been in the main hotel, will definitely go back.

We stayed at the Sport Hotel Alpina last weekend. Fantastic, original food and great, friendly service. We thoroughly enjoyed all the little extra dishes which come with the main meal, with coffee or with a glass of Prosecco. The hotel is about a minute or so away from the lifts and has a good view back up the mountain. The Wellness centre is one of the best I have used with jacuzzi, water beds, steam rooms, decent sized swimming pool, sauna etc. I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough.

We stayed in the hotel for christmas this year and had a great time. Big rooms with a lot of space, a nice spa with a big pool and a good breakfast. But the best thing is the good food created by the owner Stefano. Together with the good wines chosen by his wife Rafaella it might be the best food served in the alps, especially if you like italian food. The hotel is small and very relaxed and the waiters are very serviceminded and nice. Hope to come back soon!

In the midst of the hectic life of the ski resort, the Sport Hotel Alpina offered an oasis of calm and tranquility. The room was spacious, quiet and clean; the food and service impeccable (we loved the "tasters" with every meal); the swimming pool unique in its decor and perfect for soaking out the aches of muscles unused to ski-ing and the fitness room well furnished. We didn't try the Wellness Centre, so can't comment. And given that the hotel was just 5 mins from the slopes, it was just perfect. I know this sounds like I've been paid to write this, but really it was just a wonderful time.

Spent a night there with my wife as part our "Via Spluga" hiking package. We were too tired to use the spa (after hiking 6 hrs or so) but hungry enough to tuck in haeartily at their absolutely fantastic 1-star Guide Michelin restaurant! Sadly enough for the owners we were the only customers that evening (it was still early season), so we enjoyed Raffaella's and her colleague's full attention (I'm sure it would not have been less with a full house). The food prepared by Raffaella's husband Stefano was delicious and the wine list is an aficionado's dream. The room was very clean and comfortable. Again any time!
