Antico Borgo Poggitazzi
Reviewed May 9, 2012

Stunning is an understatement. We have literally just returned home from Poggitazzi and it is one of the most beautiful places we have every stayed in. The views are breathtaking, the farmhouse beautiful and grounds impressive. The staff were so lovely and helpful and couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We stayed in a one bed self catering apartment and it was very clean, comfortable and more then adequate for our stay with stunning views across the valley and down to the pool. Breakfast was a simple yet satisfying spread with something for everyone. With tours of their olive oil factory and wine tasting, very young children may find a trip like this a little boring as other then the pool, slide and swings there is not much to entertain them, however my son who is 2 had a great time simply running around the grounds and every effort was made to accommodate him during our stay. If you are looking for bars and night life then this trip is not for you… Poggitazzi is an idyllic retreat for a quiet, relaxing getaway with plenty of countryside to explore, wine to drink and nearby restaurants to dine in. A car is essential in order to get around and explore comfortably. To sum up , we are so happy that we are already organising dates to return. Thank you to Valentina and team for making our stay so pleasurable.

We wanted to stay at a winery during our honeymoon and found this spot on the Internet. It was a highlight of our trip. Our room had a beautiful view (just don't leave the windows open overnight in the fall - we had giant bugs try to take over our room). Breakfast was simple, but filling. Be ready for a winding road that leads to this winery, but with beautiful scenery.
We did the wine and oil tour while there and the staff is very knowledgeable and gave great history about the place. While they struggle with English sometimes, we seemed to manage and it was a wonderful few days.
We easily drove into Florence for the day from this winery, and also had a great time exploring the nearby towns.

We spent 5 nights of our October Italian holiday at Antica Villa Poggitazzi. The locaton was perfectly convenient for our itnerary.
The farm is an easy 30minute drive from Florence and a great home base for day trips to the Tuscan vineyards. The views of the vineyards and the surrounding grounds from our room were amazingly beautiful. The farmhouse is a short 3-5 minute drive into Loro Cuifenna's main part of town. Every restaurant we visited never disappointed us. They all use the freshest and most flavorful ingredients from the produce to the meats and fishes. The local wines were also a pleasant surprise to the palate.

The accommodations at the farmhouse were impeccably clean and comfortable, the breakfast buffet has ample choices with something for everyone. The concierge, Maura, is quite friendly, very witty, and most importantly, very accommodating. She hosted our wine tasting event on the farm and gave us a very interesting tour of the olive mill. Don't pass up the chance for either one.
We enjoy playing tennis and found a red clay tennis court within walking distance of Poggitazzi. We plan on returning next fall and look forward to the simple pleasures that Poggitazzi provides for such an incredible price.
