Golden Tulip Rome Airport
Ranked #4 of 23 Hotels in Fiumicino
Reviewed May 5, 2011

This hotel was clean and basic but a little expensive and was very difficult to find. It says it's near Rome's main airport but it's at least 4 or 5 km away. There was no air and the room was beastly hot. Parking was tough; they have a lot but it was full when we got there so we had to leave the car in a place near a gravel pile. (I was afraid it would slide down and damage the car.) The one bright spot was their restaurant. To our amazement, it had good ambience and excellent food. I had a seafood pasta that was as good as any I'd had while in Italy.

The Hotel is a good 4 to 5 kilometres from the airport. If you have an option to stay in Rome, it'll probably work out cheaper. To get to this hotel we paid the train fares from Rome Centrale to Fuimicino, then cabs both way from the airport to hotel. It added up to the cost of the room. From the airport we got a cab to the hotel for Euro 16; and in the morning to get back to the airport, the Hotel got us a cab for Euro 25, that they said was a special rate. Unbelievable!
There are no restaurants near the Hotel, so you'll have to pay top Euros to eat in their restaurant.

Our flight arrived at 2:30AM and the only choice is to stay near the airport. I picked this hotel based on review here and although stayed for a very shrot time, it was very friendly and nice atmopshere. We arrived there at 3:10AM, there was someone in the reception that promptly gave us the room key. Our room was in the new wing and was very modern, clean and nice. We had a nice breakfast in the morning and used the hotel provided shuttle back to the rental car facility.

We stayed there a day before and after our Mediterranean Cruise with friends and family and some of us ended up on the new section of the hotel, which uses solar system, so the rooms were cold and we did not get hot water when we took shower early in the morning.
Individually we called the front desk and we were told to come get the key to another section of the other building at 4: AM in the morning after we had undress for shower. They knew they had that problem and I remember reading a review and saw something to that effect but ignore it. If you ever stay there make sure is in not during the winter months.

I stayed here twice. Once to get an early flight out of Rome without the anxiety of a long trip in the morning. Next, to be able to leave my car safely with them (and my musical instruments) and pick them up easily after a return flight to Rome. Paid parking much cheaper than the airport.

The room was fine, the dinner in the restaurant and breakfast both fine, not complaints, Only small glitch was that there was work going on to expand the hotel, but it should be even better. Very good price with top convenience to the airport. Accommodating shuttle service.

We stayed at the Club Isola Sacra the night before we flew back to California. It was perfect for that, but not much else. There isn't much else nearby and the neighborhood is not one that invites walking. There is a large supermarket about 2 km away, and that was where we went to pass the afternoon.

The hotel room was clean and the staff at the desk were cordial. The shuttle to the airport was also easy and convenient.

The highlight of this hotel is the restaurant. Not only was the food really good, but the staff were fantastic. We had fun chatting with everyone and thought it was a great way to end our trip.

This hotel would not be my first choice if I wasted to explore Rome, but it is good for being near the airport for a departure. I would stay there again for that reason.

We stayed in this hotel for one night prior to our return home in the middle of October. It is an airport hotel located in a busy area. There is traffic all the time in front of the hotel. There are a couple of restaurants and cafes nearby, within walking distance.

Check in was quick and easy. The receptionist spoke solid English, but had a somewhat arrogant attitude about him. Our room was a standard three star room – good size, with standard amenities, a fridge and an in-room safe. The bathroom was clean and the shower even had a door on it. The carpet on the floor was clean and looked new. The hotel offers free parking for guests. It has an outdoor pool. The hallway door was quite thin so there was quite a bit of hall noise from other guests. The hotel is constructing a huge addition, looking to double the hotel size.

The hotel has a restaurant. We went to ask for a menu, and the server grudgingly and rudely gave us one, making it clear that they did not open until 8 p.m. His attitude turned us off and we found a less expensive, very good restaurant nearby. The hotel charges for all internet access and the price is exorbitant.

This is a three star hotel picked for convenience only. Service was poor or perfunctory. The room was fine for one night. It is not a hotel we would choose to use when visiting Rome. But for an overnight upon leaving the country it was fine. The hotel charges €6 for their airport transfer.
