“A lovely 300-year-old home in the country”

We spent one night in this B&B in the Irish countryside. We booked our reservation on line the day before and were advised that we needed to check in between 3pm and 6pm. We did not arrive until 6:30pm but were greeted warmly by Marie and exuberantly by Fritz, her dog. She offered us tea when we arrived, but it was too late (in our opinions) for caffeine, so we passed. The house is very old and smells like an old house, but our room, on the second floor, was large, very comfortable and very clean. We had a lovely view. The WI-FI did not work in the room but it did work outside of the room and there were chairs where you could sit and check your email. Marie sent us into Kildare (an easy 10-minute drive) for dinner and fixed a nice Irish breakfast in the morning. This was a perfect location for a stay the night before visiting the Irish National Stud. Be sure to go to the Cloncarlinhouse.com website for directions. The price was very reasonable. I suspect Marie would be happiest if you paid cash.

We were just stopping in for one night on our way out to the West. As such, it's a perfect stop-over because the B&B is right off the highway. That also means that the same highway 500M away would annoy you if you stayed longer. The proprietor is super-friendly (stayed up past midnight to welcome us) and she makes an excellent Irish breakfast. Our room (for 4) was large; the bath was very basic, but that's sort of standard for Ireland. I rate this a 2-star hotel with lots of original charm.

Beds were large and comfortable.

The mother-in-law found this place for about 11 as we trundled over to Ireland for a family wedding.
This is was a great find, Marie (the owner), goes the whole 9yrds to make her guests stay comfortable and enjoyable.
The surroundings are lush, peaceful and green. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The lounge was great and a good size, even with all of us in there.
Marie surprised us all with her hospitality, evening cups of tea and cheese and crackers as we set off for the wedding.
This was an extremely enjoyable visit to Ireland made comfortable and relaxing by staying in such a great B&B.

Now I just need to plan my return trip.

The icing on the cake was the home cooked Irish breakfast and soda bread. Say no more.

Room Tip: The front double en-suit room overlooking the horse field is lovely.

My partner and I stayed here last September and it was a lovely welcoming warm house to come in to. We got tea on arrival and the lady was lovely. Couldn't ask for better. Only five minuets away from town, we got to see the Japanese gardens and visit the Kildare out let shopping village. The whole experience was lovely. Would defiantly recommend it. Lovely and peaceful:)

We booked to stay in this country B&B as it was close to the venue of our niece's wedding. Little did we know, that the warmth of the welcome, the care and the hospitality and the experience of being treasured guests, would be just as rich under Marie's roof as it was from our own family at the wedding. Having the use of a "parlour" enabled us to feel that it was home from home and nothing was too much trouble. Marie's care and extra help with our baby granddaughter's needs, was beyond our highest expectations. We'd like to thank her for a fantastic time, we highly recommend Cloncarlin House to anyone and we almost forgot to mention - the beds are wonderfully comfortable and the breakfasts were to die for!!

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay @ Cloncarlin House. Marie just went overboard to assure our stay was positive, and she succeeded. Our stay was even more enjoyable for me because my family roots are in County Kildare and in Monasterevin. Michael Kelly Lawler was born 11.16.1814 in Monasterevin and left for America at the age of 2 from the port in Cobh, Ireland in March 1816. Served with other Irishmen in our Civil War 1861-1865 as a Brig. General and a hero at the Battle of Vicksburg, and raised horses just as he probably would have done in Co. Kildare @ Cloncarlin.

this was a wonderful place. The house and the grounds were beautiful and charming I have always loved old homes. Marie was genuine and kind and a great introduction to Irish hospitality. The absolute best things were the beds and the incredibly tasty breakfast. I highly recommend it.
