Matala was an amazing location for a holiday - though I'm glad we were there off-season as I'd imagine it would be madly busy peak season.
The hotel chef was fantastic & was really accommodating of my non-meat diet and made sure there was something tasty for me at every meal.
The all-inclusive deal of wine and beer, with coffee at certain times, was strictly policed and not great quality, and the breakfast was nothing to write home about, but otherwise the food was fantastic.
The rooms seemed to have been furnished twenty years ago, but hopefully you, like us, will spend more time out at the beach - you're not paying for a five star hotel after all.
We went out each evening for a beer at some beach-side restaurant to watch the sun set over the sea.
The hotel is walking distance from fascinating ancient sites such as Kosmos and the Neolithic caves.
