I have just returned from a week to Polichono and it was amazing! Polichrono itself was a quieter village than others nearby such as Hanioti or Kalithea. I was delighted to find it peaceful and safe as I travelled on my own. It didn't take long before I made friends with other travellers and guests. The atmosphere was really relaxed and people overall were friendly and helpful. The beach was fab but could do with having extra facilities installed such as showers and public toilets.
A few places were still closed as it was early in the holiday season but there were still plenty of choice of tavernas and bars.
Hotel Odysseas was a nice place to stay and for a change, there was a double bed in the room. The owner was friendly and really quite humourous. The bedrooms (compared to other places in Greece) were comfortable, bug free and had a mini-bar/fridge. The bathroom was tiny and not very well designed but for a week's holiday it did the job! I must agree with other reviews that the swimming pool at the hotel wasn't great. It was on the small side and quite deep with the shallower end at 1.10m. The bottom of the pool was also rough and the stairs weren't very visible which caused me to kick these and cut my toes.
The hotel wouldn't be suitable for people with disabilities as there are stairs to climb.
Overall, both the village and the hotel were a good choice to spend a week to relax with a friendly atmosphere. I'd recommend this holiday to anyone who needs a place to chill.
