“A real gem of a place to stay.”

The Hotel Ammos was fabulous. Very clean, lovely welcoming staff, comfortable apartment (cleaned 6 days a week), ideally situated close to all local amenities and the beach and a good sized swimming pool which was very welcome on the hotter days. The owner Christina was something else! What a lovely lady. She made us feel so welcome, remembered our names, always greeted us warmly with a smile and hosted a brilliant barbecue on Friday night. The barbecue is strongly recommended and great value (10 euros) with plenty to eat and the statutory glass of ouzo to warm your windpipe.
HIghly recommended.

We have been going to this village for many years, but never stayed here before. We did not know what to expect, but things could not have been better. We had a wonderful greeting on our arrival. The room was really clean and well equipt. Christina the owner has a fantastic memory for names and always greeted you by your first name. Every where in the hotel is always clean and tidy. The hotel is situated at the top of the village with a pleasant walk to the beach. Although the return walk was uphill!!. We had a relaxing time and used the hotel just as a base. We can recommend the Ammos as a friendly hotel, and agree with all the other comments.

This was our first family holiday to Greece...and it wont be the last! The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area, where the locals are very friendly. You do have to walk up a fairly short hill to get to the Ammos, but unless you suffer from a severe respiratory condition or one that badly restricts your mobility, it's really nothing at all. Christina, the owner is a wonderful host. Nothing is too much trouble for her and whilst the staff are very attentive they are in no way overbearing. The apartments are cleaned well every day except on a Sunday There is plenty of choice for eating out and all the meals we had were lovely. There is a fabulous bakery on a corner of the main street which we'd highly recommend, opposite which is a supermarket selling everything you could need. There are lots of medical centres should you need it - my husband needed his ears syringing, which was done immediately to good effect. The pool at the hotel is always immaculately clean - there are a few wasps, but they don't bother you. We'd recommend the barbecue - excellent food and more then you could possibly eat. The beach does get packed, but we found everyone really friendly down there. We had a great time and will certainly return for another holiday!

I have just read a review giving the Ammos one star- claiming "a holiday from hell" We stayed in August this year, last year, and the year before, and we will go back next year! The people who run the hotel are great! They were wonderful- beyond duty- to a family one of whom went to hospital last year, The review says much more to me about the reviewer than the hotel! ( His claim that the barby was dear is suspicious- if he hated the place why barby there after a week?
10 Euro dear for a barby- 3 course with drinks at a restuarant! Which one? The kebab shop! What rubbish!

What a great hotel, we stayed at the Ammos for one week from 6th-13th August after booking a last minute holiday. Check in was very quick and smooth. We had a large ground floor room overlooking a quiet road. The hotel is clean and in great condition. The owner Christina is a wonderful lady, always happy to help. Within a short walking distance of the hotel is a variety of shops, bars and restaurants. Our favourite was George’s restaurant which is down a little side road just off the sea front which serves lovely Greek food.

Overall we really enjoyed our holiday and would have no hesitation recommending the Hotel Ammos

Booked last minute and wanted somewhere small and friendly for myself, hubby and our 3 year old. Advised by Thomson that the transfer from the airport was 1hr & 20 mins at the most, this is not true. What they don't tell you that during July & Aug when its the Greek holidays due to the amount of traffic your transfer time can be anything upto 2hrs and 40 mins. Not the best when you have young children and a bus that doesnt have a working toilet.
Hotel located in residential area and situated at top of a steep hill, which would cause problems for anyone with walking difficulties. We had a large one bedroom apartment on 2nd floor and size wise it was very good with a lovely balcony. First impression was good, however kitchen area is poor for self catering with a two ring hob, no toaster, no oven and limited utensils, plates and cutlery. Bathroom also a bit of a nightmare as water from shower was meant to drain away in the middle of floor but this didnt happen so you either had to use towels to mop up the water or take extra care when using the loo as the floor was very slippey, not the best design especially when the maids don't change the towels during a weeks stay. One of the guests asked the maid for hers to be changed and was told to speak to the Manager. Also our sheets weren't changed or floors mopped during the week.
With regards to the snacks at the bar this is very limited to a Greek salad, cheese & ham toasties or an ice cream which although very nice were a bit repetative. Can't understand why when at least 25 people a day were round the pool area the hotel choose not to increase its revenue by increasing the choice available . You therefore need to eat out everyday or try & use the limited kitchen in your room, not ideal when you have young children who are unpredictable in their eating habits!
With regards to the resort, the beach is very crowded and huge bias towards catering for Eastern Europeans. Poor choice of Greek restaurants & those we did try wanted you in & out within 20 mins. Sometimes the main course turns up whilst your still eating your starters! Whilst we love to eat the local cuisine we found ourselves eating in the Cockney Restaurant & Bar which whilst very very good not what we really wanted on a trip to Greece.Unfortunately it appears that the financial crisis in Greece is affecting the amount of choice in the restaurants & supermarkets.
Please don't read this and think we had a bad time it's just that if it was a couples holiday great, but with young children not really up to it. Had a great crowd staying and everyone was great and on that basis it was a good holiday with a chilled out atmosphere around the pool. Couldn't fault Christina, Vangelis and George for making us feel really welcome during our stay.

We came back from here last week and haven't stopped raving about it since.

The trip advisor reviews sold it to us and it lived up to all expectations. As a Thomson small and friendly it was exactly what we were after. The staff, Christina and George were so friendly and made our stay very special. They met you every morning with a smile, remembering everyone's names and made every effort to make our stay special. The bar and pool area were spotlessly clean and tidy, with nice touches. Although the pool area is small the relaxed atmosphere meant everyone was happy to offer up beds and seats that weren't being used. The rooms were lovely and big with a good maid service and although the kitchen area was small, access to excellent food in resort meant we barely used it.
The beach was busy and fairly cramped but the pool was so nice it didn't matter. The resort was a great people watching spot and as mentioned in previous reviews the parrot (flegra) garden (nefili) and viva restaurants all did great food at really reasonable prices. 2 courses, wine and water was about £25-30 for the two of us. The cockney cafe portions were immense and if you're after a bit of English grub it's worth a visit. Although the quality of the Greek food was so good at the places on the front. And do try a gyros from the cafe in the square as recommended by George!
All in all a fantastic holiday and a place we would definitley return to! Loved it :-)
