“Disappointing”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

Had been to Rancho Tico several years ago and was happy with the food. This time my food was on the bland side and my steak was dry and a bit tough. The service was good though. The other diners in my party also noticed the change in the quality of the food.

“Local & Great!”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

Leo and his crew at Rancho Tico know how to keep their customers happy! From the Lomito Jalepeno to the fresh Casado con Pescado, I have never had a less than great experience at Rancho Tico. For a very reasonable price, you get to rub elbows with ticos and ex-pats alike--everyone gets along well here! The beers are cold and they make the best mojitos in town--by far!

Like everywhere else in Costa Rica, this place operates on "tico time". Don't go here if you're in a hurry! And, don't expect American style service. They won't try to upsell you; you will have to ask for your next beer and, if you don't ask, they'd probably close the place down before they bring your check. But didn't you come here to slow down anyway? Count this as a postive.

For these reasons and more (like live music and salsa lessons), a weekly trip to Rancho Tico is a must while you're staying in Playa Guiones or Playa Pelada! Stay away from the super touristy gringo traps and make your way to downtown Nosara for the best local food around. If you're lucky, maybe you can score a piece of one of Leo's extra special world famous deserts!
