My family and I loved our stay at El Santuario! This place is very unique and in a great location. Most mornings we walked to the beach and then would spend the afternoons lounging by the pool with howler monkeys hanging in nearby trees. A few of the evenings we had a tica chef come and make us dinner. Then off to bed in a treehouse! My 3 and 4 yr old thought it was pretty awesome! All in all, an incredible experience.
Thank you Rich and Jess for allowing my family and I the opportunity to stay at your amazing home. I really appreciate all your help along the way and how quick you were to respond to my many questions. We’ll be looking forward to another stay at El Santuario.
My wife and I have just spent an amazing week staying in this lovely, secluded property. Great to wake up to nothing but the sounds of the jungle in the mornings (birds and monkeys).
It had everything we needed with our focus being to (1) just relax at the house, (2) go to Bodhi Tree Lodge for yoga sessions, and (3) spend a lot of time at the beach. The property is handy to all of these. The beach is only a few minutes’ walk. The shops and yoga centre are less than 10 minutes’ walk. There are several restaurants 3-10 mins walk. You can hire a surfboard on your walk to the beach.
We have rented quite a number of villas when on holiday around the world over the years. Rich and Jess stand out as being tops in terms of responsiveness. We don't think they sleep :). We would hardly blink after firing off an email with a question, and a reply would end up in our in-box. Nothing was too much trouble. Rebeca and Kathy who manage the property in Nosara were also fantastic. Again, they responded to all our questions quickly, providing the detail we were looking for.
Nosara has a really nice feel about it. It is unique in that housing development is prohibited on the edge of the beach. People are really friendly. It feels very safe, and folk are just there enjoying what the place has to offer. The beach is stunning. It is like a magnet, as is the day bed at the house, under the shade of the veranda. We made up for the lack of sloths in that part of Costa Rica. There was zero pull to turn on the TV – so we didn’t.
The kitchen had everything we needed, and is brilliant as it is essentially outside with a great flow to the dining table, couches and pool.
Would we do it again? Most definitely. Without a doubt.
Rich and Jess. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely place in Nosara; and all your help along the way.
My husband and I spent 10 wonderful days in this beautiful home and it was exactly as described on the website. We loved the open air layout and spent several nights sleeping up in the loft bedroom when there were breezes blowing through. The downstairs bedroom gets as cool as you want with the a/c. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and the dipping pool was always refreshing. Three times during our stay a troop of howler monkeys came through and dined on the leaves of a tree right by the house. It was perfect! There were parakeets everyday and several times a beautiful blue-crowned Motmot with his long blue tail perched on a branch by the kitchen. The beaches are gorgeous and the food was fantastic. A wonderful vacation.
We just returned from an awesome stay at El Santuario! What a beautiful home in such a beautiful place. The house is as advertised...amazing. Sitting by the pool watching our neighbors “the Howler monkeys “ play was entertaining the entire week. El Santuario is close to every thing...food, shops, surfing, yoga, tours...you name it. Rebeca will arrange for everything you wish to do while in Playa Guiones. My wife, son and I went on a four hour quad tour which I highly recommend. While surfing was the main objective, we also snorkeled in San Juanillo which was fun. We love everything about El Santuario and Playa Guiones and plan to return again. Pura Vida...
Our family stayed five nights here and enjoyed every minute. The house is well cared for and clean, and the kitchen was well stocked. The location is close to the beach and restaurants, although we did rent a golf cart that came in handy. The consierge service that comes with the House was responsive and helpful for booking activities and made our stay stress free. Our two kids, age 9 and 7 slept in the “treehouse” part of the house and it did take a few nights to get used to the sounds of the jungle. Once our surroundings became familiar, they slept great but something to consider if you’re traveling with young children. I would recommend this house and hope to return!!
I came down with several friends to do some surfing in Nosara. Rich and Jess were incredible warm, hospitable and easy to deal with from the get-go. They provided detailed instructions about the place overall; it was super easy to get down to Nosara from Liberia and get all settled into the house. We really enjoyed the open air feel to the house, great for relaxing family-style after our third surf session each day! Super close to the beach; an easy drive or very short walk. It does have some nice creature comforts; strong WiFi and ice-cold AC for the master bedroom. For the surfers, the waves were amazing each day and the line-up was sparsely populated. The town is super low-key and relaxed and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many mellow people in my life! Highly recommend staying at Rich and Jess’ place over anywhere else, you won’t regret it!
The location of this home is fantastic in terms of getting to the town points of interest, and certainly proximity to the beach is great! This is our second time at this property, and we are looking to staying many more times!
