Probably one of the largest hotels in the centre of Ubonratchathani, and rated as 4-star on some sites. In reality, it's barely 2-star. Rooms are spacious but very run-down, with broken furniture, stained carpets, cigarette-burned bedsheets, et cetera. I think this hotel opened in the 1980s and has not been renovated at all since then. Everything appears very dated, like an Eighties timewarp. I was prepared to overlook the quirky room, as long as the service or food would be good. Both were appalling! Staff seem to totally lack any training or manners, just stand around looking vacant, and only one person could speak basic English. The real deal-breaker was the breakfast - plentiful, but tasteless food, and worst of all there were flies everywhere and several cockroaches ranging from small to large in size running all over the sliced bread. The restaurant staff turned a blind eye to it, but it was obvious that people weren't comfortable eating the food in the large breakfast room, which was very dirty and rundown (half of it was closed down). I stayed here 2 years ago and I still clearly remember how disappointing it was. I guess they call it Nevada Grand Hotel because it has a small casino inside it. However, it's not grand by any means. I moved out after 2 nights and went to Tohsang Hotel, cheaper and lovely too, especially the restaurant at Tohsang with delicious food, wine, great service and free live entertainment (singers). What a difference!
