“living in paradise!”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

After a hard and challanging tour to Ugandas Paek Margeritha, my wife Angelika and I came to Karamba Resort, Sansibar, to relaxe and enjoy the sun. What we found there, was much more we
expected! A wonderful, affectionately created mansion became our home for a lovely week. (Desingnd by Gemma herself, the owner of the Resort!) And not to forget the excellent food, you can enjoy for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Sitting nice located beside the ocean, you can taste all kinds of fresh seafood, fruits, African dishes, pastas and more!
Everything prepared "low-fat" and healthy by Paul. The point is: We will come again.....

All the staff at Karamba Resort are very friendly and always willing to help you get the best of your holidays.
The hotel is located in a very quiet area, but also very convenient for snorkeling, dolphin excursions and blue safaris.
The food is served with very good quantity and quality.
Overall, very good value for the money

We stayed at Karamba Resort for one week on the first week of October and we only have good words for this hotel. It's a quiet, beautiful place, with amazing views, and really nice staff ( they are really helpful at all times but totally respect your privacy too). Plus, the food was delicious (I totally recommend the coconut curry with squid) and they helped us organise some day trips to Stone Town, sailing to the Sand bank and snorkelling. Staying at the Nakiru Villa is worth the money, as observing the sunset from your private terrace is priceless. Overall, it is a really nice, small resort with good value for money.

i had an extra night in Zanzibar before my week long stay at the other tip of the island and wanted to see another area. im so glad i chose Karamba for my stay. eventhough i stayed only one night i took full advantage of my stay. the food is really amazing and as a picky american i enjoyed EVERYTHING i had here. my favorite were the coffee crepes with bananas and chocolate-YUM! i also spent some quality time at the pool just on the edge of the Indian Ocean. the morning of my departure myself and one other guest got up early for a truly spectacular dolphin safari. this is a great spot for singles if you just want to chill out and not worry about anything but it also seems like a great couples destination-especially if you spent all your money on the plane ticket!

Stayed here for 3 nights in November 2013. Quiet but beautiful location. Perfect for a relaxing and/or romantic break. Accommodation and service was perfect. Swam with the dolphins on our last day - this is a must for all and can be arranged through the hotel for around $20 per person.

Stayed in Karamba for 3 nights. First day only 4 other couples in the resort, very quite, relaxing peaceful place, staff wonderful! just the right balance of engagement & leaving you alone to enjoy the tranquility. On Day 2 a group of 18 Spanish tourists arrived (not a family group- spoke to some of the guests & they confirmed this) , was a bit anxious as I thought it might impact on the tranquility, glad to say it didn't put in or out on us, there are plenty of places to find your own peace of paradise. With the trees around the back of the resort there were evening cries from the bush babies, on my last evening while getting ready to have a shower (in the fab outdoor shower- amazing to look up at the stars & moon!) to my surprise (& the surprise of the bush baby!) one jumped up on the wall & peered in, I don't know which of us got the bigger fright!!! it was amazing to get so close even if it was only for a brief moment!! (we had previously spent one night in Selous trying to see bush babies & here one came to visit!)

Overall lovely resort. Superior room was perfect, loads of space & lovely patio area to read on. Only thought is that it is a little expensive, but I guess I was spoiled when we stayed on the east of the island where everything is cheaper.

Room Tip: Get one with an outdoor shower- it's amazing to shower looking up at the stars!!!

We were there in the down season which meant it wasn't too busy which made our stay. We went snorkeling at a nearby reef right from our hotel room which was amazing. Some locals pointed us in the right direction. The food was a little expensive for us so we ate in other more local places. Went to see the Dolphins before sunrise which was awesome as we missed all the crowds. It was so serene and peaceful. The beach was right outside the room and the rooms themselves were nice. A/C would be a good addition. We loved the outdoor shower with hot water. Overall, the place was great and just what we were looking for.
