“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here for a week in September. The people were absolutely fantastic, the atmosphere was like home from home. Our room had everything we requited and was cleaned daily. The whole appartment block was beautiful and quiet. The pool was great with enough sun loungers for all. I can't wait to come back and stay here again :) 5*****

We had a huge apt would probably sleep 4 but only 2 of us....on the approach flight path to Rythymon so could be a bit noisy. On the flat and level along stony beach. Good choice of restaurants to eat in. Although the best and the cheapest was probably in hotel.
Good swimming pool for guests.
Loadsa of kittens which could be a problem if you don't like cats.
Apts have been recently painted nice if you like runs!

Room Tip: only half hour from Rythymon catch a local bus on main road which is 10 mins walk.

having stayed here for two weeks (definately not long enough) we throughly enjoyed the friendlyness of the staff and other guests here, Kelly is a god send in the bar during the day always smiling and laughing, it was a pleasure to be waited upon, Tasha and Yannis in the evenings also did their part to provide an ideallic place to stay.
We throughly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet peaceful place to relax and unwind, the apartments are basic but you only need somewhere to sleep really, they are clean and comfortable, regularly serviced and just what you should expect for your money, excellent will definately return

Good sized studio and large 1 bed apartments. They were cleaned regularly so the old fashioned decor didn't matter. The maids were exceptional. The ground floor apartments at the far end of the accomodation had no air and no view. Those nearer the pool and on the 1st floor were much nicer.
The pool was very clean and had plenty of sun loungers, however the parasols were bolted into the concrete floor so shade was awkward at certain times of the day. The bar had no air con' so was very warm even though it was out doors. The staff were friendly and helpful. We saw no sign of any "clique" operating which some reviews mentioned. There was a mix of people staying during our 2 weeks 7th-21st August families and couples form Britain, Holland and Sweden which was lovely. Some new arrivals from Essex on the 19th were loud and annoying.
The taverna attached to the Kaissa beach was very good (ask for Greek chips!) and gave a 10% discount .
The Kaissa are sea front but not beach front, however, there were 3 beaches 15-20 minutes walk to the right and one 15 minutes to the left. These were excellent. the farthest even had waiter service from the nearby hotel!. There were plenty of Tavernas in both directions, most were very good. The nearest supermarket was 15 minute walk, pharmacy 20 mins, car hire 5 mins, bakery 25 mins and hard to find! Other shops 15 mins walk. The village was noticeably quiet with some businesses closed down, the bars were particularly quiet. A very sad sight.

Room Tip: Ask for 1st floor or a room near the pool

Spent 2 weeks here after being moved from the blue sky apartments which had apparently closed. Was very impressed by the reviews I had read but didn't think it could be that good. I have to say that we were very impressed with the whole package. The staff (Yannis, Natasha and Kelly) really made the whole holiday. They really are amazing. The apartments were very clean and very well equipped. Went out to eat 12 nights of the 14 we were there and only had one bad meal at the Chinese. The beef curry was awful but the chinese food we ordered was fantastic. We went to The Island restaurant 3 times and had 3 very good meals. Tuesday is Brazilian night and Friday is Greek night. Both good entertainment and fun. Turn right out of the apartments and walk the coast road for about 15 minutes.
We went to the beach which is about 15 minutes walk from the apartments. Turn right out of the apartments. The lady who runs the sunbeds and water sports is very nice and friendly.
We rented out quad bikes which were a very reasonable 20 euros each for the whole day. We went up into the mountains to Scotino Cave. It was a great day and we were all sad to hand them back. Definitely recommend them.
Aqua park was fun especially if you have children. We all enjoyed it.
The recession is very apparent in Gouves. Lots of empty shops and restaurants. But don't let this stop you booking this area. It really is very relaxing. If you want clubs go to Malia. If you want a relaxing holiday with some very friendly people then these apartments and Gouves is the place for you. I don't often want to go back but I would definitely go back to Kaissa Beach. Missing them all.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor in Rooms No 40 and 41. We had views of the sea from the front walkway...

Arrived home from Kaissa Beach apartments on August 18th after 2 weeks and had a lovely stay there! First off, the staff are great-they can't do enought for you and are always cheerful and happy to assist you. We arrived to our apartment at 2am and were given bottles of water and the air conditioning key, there and then which was fab! The apartments themselves are basic, but we didn't find ourselves requiring anything that was not in the room already. The rooms are cleaned every other day and new linen is provided every 4 days and I have to say, the rooms were absolutely spotless. We didn't have any noise at night (apart from the odd planes and dogs) and were never awoken in the morning by music from the pool bar or anything like that. The pool itself is a good size however one slight issue for me was that I didn't think the pool was particularly clean as there were dead insects floating on the surface.

If you're looking for a place with a nightlife, then Gouves is not the place for you as it is a quiet resort. From what locals have mentioned to us, Gouves has been hit fairly hard by the economic problems in Greece and has resulted in some restaurants and bars closing down. We felt quite restricted by what we could do at night as there aren't many restaurants and you feel too hot to walk far out to explore other places. This meant we visited the same restaurants 2 or 3 times during our 2 weeks there, but I can honestly say that we did not have one bad meal. However, the general feel of the place was slightly depressing as the resort had a feeling of desperation about it (which is totally understandable due to the crisis in Greece) and when visiting the old main street (turn left out of apartments and take left at the junction) we saw many bars shut and in a state of total disarray, which was actually very saddening.

To eat out at night, I would firstly reccomend '2Friends', which you can find by turning right out of the apartments. We were quite sceptical to try it at first as the decor is quite tacky and old-fashioned. However, looks were definately decieveing as we had our nicest meal of the 2 weeks there and we ended up eating there 3 times. I would also reccomend 'Zorbas' (turn left out of the apartments), The Sailing Cafe for a drink (also left) and also Exilino-the restaurant at the front of the apartments, which was lovely.

Also, from reading reviews on TripAdvisor we got a taxi out to 'Spyros' Taverna' in Gouves' old town. We had average meals there but we would pay it all again just for the atmosphere of the place as it was our only real taste of Greece. Spyros was such a likeable character and had us all doing traditional Greek dancing and then pushed all the tables together so there were Greeks, Dutch, French and British all around the same table which was lovely! On top of this, if you call the taverna, his lovely wife Maria will pick you up from your apartments and take you back at the end of the night all free of charge.

So in summary, we wouldn't be biting at the chomp to return back to Gouves but we would 150% return back to Kaissa Beach Apartments. However, tourism in Gouves does need to maintain its high level in order to cut the vicious circle of the economic problems closing places and therefore restricting tourism, so please don't be put off!!!

PS-avoid the Raki they give you in restaurants, it's very strong stuff!
