Excellent apartment clean but basic.
Restaurant is canteen style so dont go All Inclusive
All staff were really nice and friendly, Reme the barman is a legend, Its worth going to just for a drink and enjoy the cocktails he serves.

I have just returned home with my family of 4 from Klio Apartments in Gouves. The apartments are basic but adequate, cleaned every second day which was great. Breakfast was continental and very basic, don't expect full english! However, the lunch and dinner was very good. There is a full selection of salad, a pasta choice and homemade Greek food which was always very fresh and very tasty, fresh melon, Greek yoghurt and Cretian honey and lovely little Cretian sweet desserts. The pool area is quiet and peaceful. We were all inclusive and drinks are limited and finish at 10pm, we never had any drinks in the evening as we were always out and returned back after 10pm. However, all in all, I would certainly return to the Klio again, good value for money.

This review goes out to all the families out there with smaller children who are on the lookout for a nice, calm, easy-going, friendly and warm family-driven hotel where one can relax as a parent and your children will have a great time.

Party-people should go to the nearby towns of Hersonnissos or Malía instead, hence Klio Apparments and the city of Gouves are better suited for families.

I don't agree at all on the negative reviews ( - from UK-people) in here but hopefully these people will stay at home next time on the beaches in Cornwall, hence Klio Appartments here in Gouves, Crete, Greece is indeed a great place to relax and spend time with the family during a summer-holiday.

The hotel is clean and proper as well as the pool and towels and bed-sheets get changed EVERY day by the staff except on Sundays.

The staff is excellent and very friendly. One can sense the warm family-driven atmosphere from the moment one sets feet on the marble-floor at the entrance.

The restaurant is typical greek cuisine - obviously one shouldn't eat 3 meals a day from the same pan so one shouldn't put to much trust in a review written by a soul with a limited gastronomic horizont and an 'All Inclusive'-bracelet on the wrist - and one should expect tasty dishes with local ingredients (olives, tomatoes, feta-cheese etc.) at the Hotel and on the nearby local restaurants - but no Fish'n Chips or deep-fried Sneakers though.

The golden beach (150m from the hotel) and turqoise water is another reason to come here with your children, hence the water is shallow and lifeguards are on duty.

The local sunset in the evening is breath-taking and the perfect opportunity for Mum and Dad to hold hands whilst the children play on the beach before supper either at the Hotel or on some of the authentic Greek 'tavernas' along the coastal street.

I will not hesitate for one second to recommend both Klio Appartments and the city of Gouves, Crete to any well behaved (Scandinavian -) family with smaller children on the look-out to find a nice place to spend the summer-holiday.

I will be coming back here with my family - no doubt about it!

The Klio apartments are of a typical Greek standard. This means you get the very basic no frills. Saying that the rooms are cleaned 6 day a week not on Sunday's. The staff are friendly and welcoming especially in the onsite supermarket where you get a fantastic greetings every time you enter or pass by and are happy just to say hello. This is extremely infectious and you can't help yourself but feel happier with their interactions. This fantastic Greek outlook on life is exactly why you want to go to Greece they are the most welcoming people I have ever met. The only thing that was disappointing was that the air-conditioning charge of six euros a day but they rant that up to €75 for two weeks. I find this extremely overpriced and the shop when you get there and it's 40° knowing that it gets hotter in July and August I find this extremely mercenary as you have no option but to pay what they're asking for as the heat is extremely uncomfortable otherwise. The location is about 500 yards from the beach and about 800 yards to the nearest restaurant. If you karyon there are numerous restaurants to choose from giving you the standards Greek dishes such as Classico is the father lots of fresh fish. All with fantastic views of the sea.
I would recommend this hotel as it is clean relaxing friendly and has everything you need on tap the only thing is the Aircon which is a little disappointing but overall we had a fantastic time the weather was great and we will be going back to Crete soon!!!!

The apartments were more expensive than hotel rooms and were very dated and very rarely cleaned. We stayed for a week and our bedding and towels weren't changed once, even after asking the cleaners to do so. The all inclusive is not at all inclusive, and you have to pay for drinks after 10pm even if you are. The only good things about the place was the reception and bar staff, BIG thumbs up to Ntina and Rimi, they're fantastic. The country is beautiful but don't think we would be staying here again, as we ended up having to go out to eat due to the fact that when we went to get food it was all gone due to other guests filling up their plates and not thinking about anybody else, so we spent the week living on cheese toasties or spending money outside which we didn't expect to do. Thank you to the staff for making it slightly more enjoyable though.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. Thank you for the kind comments on the staff working in the hotel. They are all excellent. It is essential to reply on the issues mentioned in your review. The rooms are being cleaned every day but Sundays. The towels are being replaced if the guests leave them on the floor. The frequency of cleaning as mentioned above is more than what is agreed in the contracts of cooperation. The all-inclusive is up until 10pm that is correct. Vodka and whiskey are not local products of Crete and are not included in the all-inclusive description. Please contact the hotel and ask for an all-inclusive description before booking your holidays, if that helps. A lot of potential customers in the past have done and we are more than happy to reply. We aim for happy guests. Yes we have guests who eat a lot, as the chef cooks home-made dishes with fresh raw materials delivered on a daily basis. However, there is always plenty of food for everyone. On occasions where guests are coming to the restaurant 5 minutes before closing time and one dish/option is finished there will be a replacement standby or an alternative of two choices will be offered to the guest. With the hotel being small we monitor if our guests eat well and if they are happy with the food. We are also happy to satisfy a request provided it is communicated to us.
To the guest writing this report I am sorry that the hotel did not meet his/her expectations. I thank him/her for the positive notes for the hotel staff. They really deserve it!
For potential customers, please ask for the all-inclusive description at your travel agent or e-mail the hotel. This information is widely available. With regards any other questions please e-mail the hotel. If whilst on holidays one is not happy, contact it at reception in order to have a chance to rectify matters, whilst one is still on holidays. We are a small hotel, but we enjoy to have happy and repetitive clientele, and we try to do so.
Once again thank you for your time to write this review.
Kind regards,
Klio Apart Hotel Management
