We are staying here at the moment and it is just chilled in the extreme.

If you want hustle and bustle and up all night parties, then best stay away.

Relaxing quiet and well worth a visit.

The staff are all nice as well, polite and cheerfully.

Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hotel and facilities all very nice. If I was to go back I personally would do bed and breakfast as dinner was mostly disappointing. Local area wasn't too touristy. Nice views of the sunset from the hotel with lots of bars and restuarents on the seas edge. Would recommend 'inter car' car rental just past George's bar on the left, who are so much cheaper and just as good as thompsons car rental. Would avoid mike's tour car rental as he is much pricer and provided us with substandard quad bikes. All in all, the island is a nice hotel with great staff, just need to void their very price drinks and bland dinner buffet.

The Island Hotel is a perfect retreat for a peaceful holiday. We went in May and had seen previous forecasts for cloud and rain. We arrived in a pleasant breeze and temperatures in the mid-twenties without a cloud in the sky. The transfer was straight forward and quick and we received a welcoming reception on arrival at the hotel from the rep and hotel staff. My first impression was the spotless, shiny new, spacious public areas with arty decor that didn't clutter but complimented the rooms. From the library and TV lounges to the restaurants and bars, there is a different environment to suit different interests. The palm trees and hammocks dotted around the complex felt to me like paradise.

I enjoyed the two swimming pools, both with comfortable daybeds and enough parasols for shade, never feeling crowded. The smaller pool at the back was where people hardly said a word. The main pool had sea views and a snack bar. The gym, the games room, the indoor pool and spa, table tennis, darts and courts were all there for the dull days but fortunately we didn’t have many of them! The bedrooms had everything you needed with big beds and a too- comfortable mattress and extra touches such as toiletries, slippers and tea and coffee products. We had a standard room with views of a cactus and a bit of the main pool but we didn't need to be on the balcony for long with such a nice hotel and surroundings.

We had read the poor reviews about the food but we went open minded. It was themed international cuisine each night which were plentiful and varied. We stayed one week and were more than satisfied with every meal. There was a sufficient offering of daytime entertainment which is more subtle than the Gold brand. The evening entertainment was in keeping with the hotel - chilled - with mainly a singer and guitarist but for more livelier nights (and cheaper drinks), head out to the resort. The promenade walk along the beach is picturesque with occasional bars and restaurants along the way. The sunsets are stunning!! The main area for shops is a 15 minute stroll away. We had 18 hours of heavy rain but found enough to do with easy access to the resort and local buses to other towns east and west.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, say so although most rooms will hear the entertainment in the summer as it is outside. Most rooms have a good view although we had a giant cactus in the way of the pool but it didn't bother us.

Just returned from two weeks at this fantastic hotel. Friendly staff could not do enough for you. We were half board and I expected to pay for everything except breakfast and dinner, the only thing we paid for was drinks, everything including safety deposit box and sun lounges on beach were free. There was a good variety of food and it was cooked and presented very well. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to feel special and relaxed for the entire stay of their holiday.
