From the moment we arrived to a fabulous welcome we started to relax and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was spacious and clean with all basic kitchen needs met. The furnishings are not high end but the value for money factor would be hard to beat anywhere. The best part of the stay here was the feeling that we were welcome and part of a lovely Greek family. The staff were so attentive and always helpful, special mentions to Dena and Mrs Rena and super service in the bar and restaurant by VG and Aris.
We were fortunate to meet other lovely guests who all agreed that this was a special find and would return.
The swimming pool and sunbed area is lovely with some super planting surrounding the apartments and the balconies, bouganvillia and hibiscus with aromatic mints thyme and rosemary.
The beach is about a 20 minute walk away with lovely little bays with sunbeds and restaurants. There is a bus stop and taxi rank about 150m from the hotel. We took the bus and were amazed at the price 2,40E to Sissi and Heraklion in air conditioned coaches with Conductors who are happy to help you with the right stops etc. Plenty of great restaurants withn walking or short taxi ride away if you want a change from the hotel restaurant. Would definately recommend.

Room tip: If you are missing anything just ask Dena, she is always so helpful

Just returned from our holiday stayed at arena Apartments.
What a lovely place.. we are already arranging to book to go back next year. Apartments are what you would expect for a budget holiday but the hospitality is second to none !! Owner Rena is out cleaning the communal area including pool every morning at 6.30 and is on site working until 1.30am every day!! Dina also works non stop from morning to night and can’t do enough for you during your stay. Funny amazing woman. Constantly running about.. nothing too much trouble for her.
Can’t wait it re visit next year with grandchildren and daughter.. this is a family run hotel, nice and quiet peaceful place to stay. Apprehensive on the run up to arrival but couldnt of picked a better place to stay.. never felt so welcomed anywhere else I have stayed..
See you next year ladies xxx enjoy your well deserved break at the end of season ladies!!!

I stayed at the arena apartments at the end of August 2019 as a last minute holiday.
The apartments are lovely. Traditional and spacious. All the guests I spoke to whilst staying there agreed it was lovely. It has everything you could need. A shop, restaurant, bar, pool, friendly staff, good location and the most friendly and amazing staff. Dena is lovely, she works hard and is always smiling and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms are spacious, with a balcony or terrace, the room was clean and well equipped for everything I needed.
Ultimately, if you want and are looking for the Hilton experience..... this is not it..... pay the money and stay at the Hilton. If you want a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, amazing sunset views, decent food and drink and have the facilities to eat in your room, wash and change, sleep and chill. This is it. I loved it and will go back.

stayed at the Rena apartments this year after visiting the shop during our stay at Lyda club last year and experiencing the friendliness for the staff (particularly Dena).

Location - about 15 minutes walk to the beach (across a main road) which we were aware of when we booked. It’s a great place as a base, very close to the main bus route if you’re interested in exploring a little. A couple of euros will get you to Hersonnisos and star beach, and to Heraklion in the opposite direction.

Apartment: clean and tidy. The kitchen had an oven and hob, and fridge with freezer compartment with enough equipment for preparing light meals. Towels were changed regularly during the week and bins emptied daily. Only issue we had was the drainage in the bathroom, after 4 showers the floor flooded - but this didn’t really cause a problem....we stayed on the ground floor and I believe the upper floors are better.

There is a small bar and kitchen - we ate breakfast and dinner once purely because we like to go to different places. However would have eaten here more often if staying for longer. Full English was nice - although sausages were not the best- but don’t expect this in Greece anywhere! And requests were met for variations to the menu. With regards to dinner, the stifado and gyros were delicious and very well priced.

Staff: All the staff were very good...nothing was too much trouble for Mrs Rena and a special mention must go to Dena who always has a smile and never seems to stop! Some previous reviews mention some awkwardness however this was not experienced by us at all. ALL the staff were pleasant but never “in our faces” at all.

All in all I feel we had a very good value stay and we would definitely return.

Just back from this budget accommodation and can’t wait to go back. If you’re into high end luxury this is not for you, but if you want a friendly old fashioned Greek welcome then this is the place.
Close to bus stops if you plan to go out and about and easy walking distance to beach and local tavernas but what makes this place great is the staff.
Rena, Aris, the “2 large beers” bar man and the wonderful Dena all worked so hard to make sure that our holiday was the relaxing break that we wanted. We will definitely be back.
