Sometimes it's good to visit a Duomo to see the town! The Duomo is San Cristoforo and the town is Barga. About a 30 minute ride by car, north of Lucca on the right side of the Valley divided by the Serchio River or the Valle del Serchio (serkio). When you get into town and are at the main Piazza which has two bars, go to your right over a small bridge and continue up to the parking area which is at the entrance of the old town of Barga. Just continue walking straight ahead and you'll end up at the top of the town where the Duomo of San Cristoforo (pre 1,000 AD) will be found. Beautiful area! Beautiful views! Barga has been designated one of Italy's Most Beautiful Towns. No tourist traps here or in this entire area. Take the time to enjoy your day. Notice that these small towns have different roads leading both into and out of the old center. People back then were smart and kept walking to a minimum to get to any point in town. Check it out.
