“Perfect italian paradise”
Reviewed October 3, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We returned to Il trebbio for the second year running. It's views and relaxing atmosphere is what we as a family wanted. We done the tourist trips last year to, Pisa and Florence and instead tried Siena. This was well worth the couple of hours in the car, Similar to Florence but less crowded and with just as much atmosphere. Wander around and find a street of the beaten track for a local pasta or pizza lunch. We also visited Lucca a couple of times just for dinner and a bike round the walls. However most of the time was spent by the local pool. We met some lovely people of all ages, and our children found friends which also helps!
The owners of the villa are adorable. I wish I could bring them home with me! Amelia is an incredible cook and provided us with a tasty jam tart italian style. If your not lucky enough to have your own Amelia, go to the local supermarket where they make something similar.
The italian way of life here is enviable, relaxed, happy, friendly and sociable. Everyone speaks and smiles!
If you are lucky enough to go on holiday here, keep it a secret. We don't want everyone knowing how great this place is!

“Stunning views from a beautiful, well equipped villa, complemented by charming hosts.”
Reviewed August 31, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We stayed for two weeks with our four children aged from 8-18, and everyone found the bedrooms spacious, clean, but also beautifully decorated with lovely furnishings. All three rooms had ensuite bathrooms with large showers, and our teenagers also had the privacy of their own separate terrace and entrance to their room.
There was plenty to do with all the beautiful scenery and Tuscan towns to see, and of course plenty not to do with the sun terrace and loungers just outside.the door.
We interspersed day trips in Tuscany,,.with pool.trips to the affiliated pool a short walk.away in Albiano. The pool was perfect with a well run bar serving reasonably priced food, coffee/tea ice creams and alcohol - cold beer by the pool on a scorching afternoon = bliss! Swimming hats are compulsory but they have plenty to borrow. The same family run a lovely trattoria as well as a shop a short stroll away.
We did several day trips and enjoyed Pisa and Lucca the most, finding Florence a bit too crowded. Pisa we did afternoon/evening which worked well in the heat and it seemed to be less busy, Lucca had some lovely shops as well as being pretty. There were lots of closer views / villages to explore and we found that the people were all friendly as well as often being good at speaking English.
We all hugely enjoyed a trip to the Grotta del Vento - absolute amazing caves seen best doing the 3 hour tour. Be prepared for a pretty hair raising drive to get there, though!
Back at the villa, we found Diego and his family to be charming and helpful but not intrusive.Diego met us in Barga on the first day and we drove behind him to the villa where he then explained all the do's and don't s as well as giving us some tourist tips. His mother baked us a lovely fruit tart during our stay and the complimentary bottle of wine on arrival was so delightful, that we just had to buy several more to bring home, as well as some.of their own produced Olive oil.
We didn't see all there was , as we wanted to relax as well - this is definitely a place to return to and Il Trivium is the place to stay.

Absolutely beautiful villa. Very clean and spacious. The owners are lovely people who are keen to help if there are any problems. The views are stunning and if this villa was up for sale I'd snap it up. Visited their villa next door which was also lovely but we cannot wait to come back with our family next year to this one. We all had our own bedrooms and separate bathrooms which was a dream. Bbqs every night sitting on the balcony what more could you ask.

“A place of beauty and wonderful people”
Reviewed August 16, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

I rented both villas with my husband and friends to celebrate my 60th birthday and it was truly a memorable week. Diego always responded to any of my questions before we arrived at the villas and while we were there, he and his family (Sonia - his wife and his father - Angelo) were so kind and attentive. Angelo stopped by to see if he could assist us in any way and he even brought us vegetables from their garden. The pride and care that they take in their homes is quite apparent.
The location of the villas in the hills is amazing as are the views from the terraces. The restaurant in Albiano -La Terrazza is very good and the pool was a welcome respite on hot days, not only that - how many pools have such great mountain views? This area of Tuscany is very special and I plan to return to Diego's villas some day. Highly recommended!

“Don't look further than "Il Trebbio", it's the perfect place to stay for your real Tuscan experience.”
Reviewed July 16, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

"Il Trebbio", what a magical place, the villa and surrounding landscape certainly surpassed any of the website descriptions. The villa is spacious, beautifully furnished and has real Tuscan charm. It also has all the comforts and necessities of home, as well as being super clean, with plenty of spotless linen.

The patio, with its automatically retracting sunshade, is a delightful place to enjoy a meal at any time of the day. The view is to die for. Either looking down at the pretty, walled town of Barga or across to the magestic, marble-topped mountains, it is all breathtakingly beautiful.
Nearby attractions are the swimming pool which is never crowded, and the restaurant " Il Teatro", a 10 minute walk into Albiano. The meals are delicious, cheap and made from local products. If you visit "Il Teatro" for your evening meal, an added attraction is the twinkling lights of fireflies as you walk home at dusk.

Diego, Sonia and parents are wonderful hosts; charming, extremely helpful, and very obliging. Diego's father, Angelo, was particularly helpful in giving advice for the best scenic drives. One of these was the amazing route to San Pellagrino, 2,000 metres above sea level with spectacular, panoramic views. There are also dozens of little villages tucked away in the mountains that are full of charm, and again, offer very scenic ( although sometimes challenging) roads to reach them. Additionally, the villa is well situated for day drives to bigger towns such as Lucca, Pisa, Florence, and even La Spezia.

At the end of an exciting day out, "Il Trebbio" offers the perfect, peaceful retreat. A glass of wine on the patio, with its exhilarating and unique view, is the complete culmination of the Tuscan experience.

“Peaceful”
Reviewed June 20, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Il Trebio is a bright, spacious villa outside Barga. It has three generous sized bedrooms and a bathroom. To get to the second bathroom it is necessary to go outside and down some stairs. The house is well equipped with tv, dvd player, washing machine, microwave etc and extra pillows and blankets if needed.
There is a terrace with table and chairs and some sun loungers.
The setting is very peaceful, up a winding road, with the most beautiful views over the countryside.
About a 15 minute walk away in Albiano is a restaurant and the communal swimming pool and about a 10 minute drive away is Barga with a Saturday market, choice of restaurants, supermarkets etc. Lucca is about a 40 minute drive. We used to train to visit Pisa and the train station is only a 10 minute drive away.
Diego and Sonia were very helpful and always available if you needed questions answered.
They kindly gave us fruit and vegetables from their garden during our stay as well as a bottle of wine when we arrived.
The house was absolutely spotless and a pleasure to stay in.

“BEST VACATION RENTAL THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN TUSCANY”
Reviewed June 11, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The service provided by the Owners , Diago and family exceeded all expectations....from the personal greeting upon arrival, a gift bottle of wine and having the groceries that I had requested stocked in the Kitchen. We were able to prepare a light evening meal and breakfast without leaving the house. We had arrived late on Sunday afternoon.
The property is beautifully maimed by Angelo, Didgo's father. The flowers are spectacular.
I had a total of 3 guests for several days each. A highlight was a Dinner Party prepared by Sonia , Diago's wife in the TAVERN , an area within , but separate from the Villa. We all participated in the preparation of a 6 course Tuscan meal! My guests were thrilled to participate with the chef and then have the meal served! Diago and his family all speak English, are very knowledgeable about the area. Small maintenance problems were resolved immediately. This was my 5th year to spend May in Tuscany. Villa Trivium, Diago and family
Facilitated the best month EVER for me and my guests in Tuscany. I plan to return next year.
