“Hooker Valley, Mt Cook”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

Wow i finally made it to this track, even though short in terms of return times. It does not disappoint the slightest. you can either set foot from the Hermitage or the camping ground and cross two swing bridges to walk ever so closer to Mt Cook. The Hooker Valley Glacier Lake becomes vis able, you can walk up to the waters edge and see the terminal face of this dirt/grit covered Glacier. If you are lucking enough to have clear skies, enjoy the towering views of Mt Cook and the surrounding Mountains.

“Hooker Valley”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

This a great walk to do while staying at Mt Cook. It is about 1 hour walking up the valley to the glacier lake. The views are fantastic and it is a pretty easy walk but do wear strong shoes.

One of the best and most spectacular tracks (one day) to walk in the area.
Amazing views and exciting hanging bridges.

“Incredible scenery, breath-taking at times”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

The drive to the village along Lake Pukaki was breath-taking and there are plenty of places along the way to stop for photos.
We decided to stop at the Whitehorse Campground 2km passed the village which was set in an incredible location. It was also a great place to base yourself for the surrounding walks as there are several that lead of from the campground itself, including the 3 hour return Hooker Valley walk which is a must do. The walk to Kea Point is also well worth it but if you are short on time then you won’t miss out on much as the scenery is similar but less impressive than what you get on the Hooker valley walk.
It is also worth doing the Blue Lakes drive even though the lakes themselves aren’t impressive at all. We walked for around 2hours in this area and the views of the Mount Cook, Tasman glacier and its lake that was dotted with ice formations all around, were out of this world.
It is definitely worth popping into the Parks information centre where you can get any information and can find out about the multi-day walks also offered in the National Park.
