So much to see on this walk. And if you don't have a lot of time it only takes 15 minutes to get to the first swing bridge and see the Hochstetter Glacier. Sometimes you can hear the glacier 'groaning' as the ice moves - not what you expect. The second swing bridge is completely new and really impressive - this is about an hour and a half to two hours return. Going right up to the Hooker Glacier adds another hour each way (so about two hours total). Going before a bit before Christmas is a great time - you will get to see the Mount Cook Lily in flower - quite unique.

This walk is amazing. The scenery is breathtaking. Really worth the effort. A bit longer than we thought it would be. The lake with floating ice burgs at the end is great.

Wished we had read these reviews prior our trip as we weren't quite prepared for the long trek which took us almost 4 hours ... but the view was spectacular! Bring plenty of water, some snacks, adequately covered as we didn't expect the suntan even in the cool weather. At some point, we were exhausted, hungry, thirsty and just wished there is a water cooler nearby! No proper toilet, especially for the ladies - so be prepared. We enjoyed the stunning views of the valley, river steams, awesome view of Mt Cook, took many pretty photo shots here. 2 hours later, finally reached the end of the trek, we saw the lake but but.... where is the glacier? There were just some bits of ice floating on the lake, and further away, the solid ones were all covered by the mud ... we couldn't even tell it was glacier, and were told by the other trekkers. Just come for the view on the way but don't expect to see beautiful glaciers or you may be disappointed.

Definitely worth tracking for the spectatcular view of the valley & glacier. As we were there in Dec, we were able to track at 7pm as it was still very bright. Its an easy walk with lots of fresh air.

Spectacular views! Only walked just past the second swing bridge. Reasonably easy walking with the marked track, with only a few areas of boulder walking. Highly recommended! Allow as much time as possible (up to a day, but at least a few hours)
