“Lovely traffic-free walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

A riverside walking/cycling track, purpose built alongside Whakatane's iconic river, this is a favourite place to go for daily exercise and fresh air, along the way experiencing views of the open sea and the wharf or, if going the other way, the open gardens including, with a slight diversion, the Whakatane rose gardens, and the view to Landing Road bridge where all southbound traffic must cross. Cyclists do expect to be given right-of-way, and this can feel a bit intrusive.

“Easy picturesque walk”

easy walk or great for cycling. very picturesque. If staying in the motel area of Landing road - it gives a quick and easy walk to the town Centre. There is nothing to dislike

“Walk by the River and Appreciate Natures Beauty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

A really nice easy walk from the CBD down to the Heads of the Whakatane river.

There are plenty of boats to see, the occasional seal, bird life including ganets, white and grey herons, Royal Spoonbills.

Just a great opportunity so close to town to make you appreciate the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

Lovely flat walk - well laid out with interesting and very scenic views along the way. Great to stop at the wharf where there are cafes for refreshments.
