“Something special!”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

The unique and authentic French atmosphere is wonderful! The service is friendly and helpful. We have had an assortment of food and some of our favourites are the Onion soup and the pain au chocolat. The coffee and the paninis are also very good, not like anything else you will find in Whakatane. Would recommend to everyone, young or old, couples or families.

“Worst breakfast EVER”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

We were so disappointed with this place. We ordered simple breakfast with eggs B and scrambled eggs. Service was extremely slow while cafe was almost empty. Well, how long does it take to cook 2 breakfasts? We've waited for ours for 25 minutes. Scrambled eggs were extremely overcooked and had a grayish color (quite surprising!), eggs B were the worst eggs B we've ever tried. They can't even make Hollandaise, it looked like cottage cheese with butter separating from the yolks and had a terrible sour taste. Side salad was served with with unpleasant dressing. I would never come back or recommend this place.

Hello, I am sorry to ear that you didn't like your breakfast. We do our best to have the best customer service and never hesitate to ask feedbacks about the food we make. I just feel a lot of anger in your comment but don't remember saying good bye to angry customers. Regarding your scrambled eggs, we use extra fresh free range eggs so I really don't understand where the greyish colour could come from. Yes we know how to make hollandaise sauce and it doens't come out of an industrial poach. The chef apparently made a mistake while re-heating the sauce, but the sauce has a tangy kick from the fresh lemons we use to make it . Concerning the salad dressing is a classic French vinaigrette that we have been serving for a long time, customers often ask us the recipe,we are sorry you didn't liked it. Our aim is to deliver the best service and we make sure that every customer leaves the cafe with a smile on his face. We would have changed or refunded your all breakfast including coffees. Sorry again about that. We would be pleased to offer you a full breakfast. Regards. Chloe
